I asked a friend of mine who recently bought a carbon. When I asked him how it was he replied "Iffy. It's very light and hi-tech but feels cheap. Not as nice as my Shoei XT."

 now all of a sudden light is no good . this is makeing me :D so much. i bet if it were an arai carbon thats 4000 it wouldnt feel cheep.

I can assure you the bell star is just as good a helmet as the shoei x 12 i can assure you the rs1 is just as good as the the rf 1100.
do you really think any of these guys are sitting on technology the other dont know about. have you ever taken apart a helmet. they are all the same.

if you took the labels off of them you wouldnt know the difference. this is marketing. get the one that fits best.

im not a bell fan boy as i have stated many times my suomy is my favorite helmet, however if you really think that arai is 500 better or shoei is 400 better then go buy one ill get more CARBON for my bike with the savings. oh wait carbon is light and cheap now i forgot.

The Star's a good helmet, as good as you'll get for the price. And nothing, repeat nothing, you can buy will move more air through it. Watch the STG review for confirmation on that; he is right. I have one of the first-gen, non-carbon ones:

When I first got it, I ripped all the guts out and couldn't help but notice how much the internal air channels looked like a bicycle helmet; at the time there was just nothing like it in motorcycle helmets in that regard. Some other companies have upped their game in response, but in doing so they were recognizing the Star as being leading edge in that regard. Not such a big lead anymore, but if you're looking for ventilation you won't get more than in a Star, save for Shervin-izing your helmet... ;)

There are a few things to note about Stars; they've changed sizing since the first ones, and they have just recently gone to a completely new headform, so when the helmet was made would make a significant difference in how it'll fit. The new headform is the one used for the RS1 and Moto 9 and is more oval than the first ones, and the sizing runs more true.

The primary noise source on mine is under the ears where the neck roll doesn't fit that tightly, letting air rush up right where you notice it - your ears! I wear plugs, but if you don't that could be a deal breaker if they haven't changed that on the new ones. Feel for gaps down there; if there are any they will cause wind noise.

I had 4 Arai Corsair in a row and I want to move to a better way to remove the shield, Arai suchs badly. I tried Shoei X12 and doesn't fit my head. Not sure about Schubert RS1, seems a great helmet but this Bell looks at the same level just $300 cheaper.

i have the arai corsair carbon and i hate the shield.
i have the sr1 schuberth, great light helmet, good shield-technology bad vertical view!!!

got the new agv pista carbon, if it fits you well-- great view, light and the visor is very easy to remove (like the shuberth) with great optical quality.
give em a try!

Its not that light.....

I put my size m Corsari V on the scale and the Bell Carbon. Differance is 1582 to 1552. That 30 grams or 1 ounce.

1,320g rx-7 rc, 1,290g sr1, 1,250g agv pista

I shared the personal experience of a mature rider who actually owns the helmet, as opposed to inferences determined trying one on in the store (which is as close as I've got to it). SUBJECTIVE each to his own!
