you really need to try it on, but I was a size down from the Corsair X to the Pista R.

Would love to try one on, but there is no AGV Pista GP R in XL or XXL in Austin, I’ve been looking for months. So you’re saying that the Pista GP R runs smaller than Arai and Shoei? That’s surprising.

Years ago I had an AGV Corsa and I had to get an XXL to fit in my head. Alternatively, I also had an AGV K5 that fit perfectly in XL. So they all seem to run a bit different.

Well, isn't the Pista line still made in Italy? Maybe the Corsa line as well? I think that's what sets them apart from the other AGV lines. And of course the price reflects that.

Not sure about the Shoei, but for me, the Pista was a size down from the Arai Corsair X. Cycle Gear has a really good policy for ordering and returning if it doesn’t work out. I would be surprised if they didn’t have one in Austin

thank you but Cycle Gear does not stock the upper-range AGV helmets. I've tried the Houston and Austin stores----they seem to really only carry the cheap stuff--mostly. Of course I could order one through them---but much better Pista pricing elsewhere!

Ducati Austin is a Dainese/AGV dealer but they never have a XL or XXL in Pista in stock whenever I go there.

Sounds like an XL would be the way to go for the Pista--no need to go XXL--
Thanks guys,
Greg

One thing I forgot to add in my Shark review , tab to open the visor that is supplied is near impossible to open with gloves on.
The visor are very sturdy and tight but also have a ratchet adjust to loosen.
Really annoying in the heat we have here at the end of a track session
I purchased a mirror visor that has a a much better larger plastic tab makes it super easy.

I have an xlite 803 and a pista gp r. All depends on what fits you best. The xlite fits my melon better.

I am thinking about trying a Suomy SR GP next.

I've got a corsa handprint and a pista soleluna . Only got them for the look. Fitment sucks. Definitely doesn't work well with the shape of my dome. Size XL. I've got a shoei x12 in L and fits great. Had a bell star in a L and that too fit great. My carbon hjc rpha 10 jorge lorenzo replica fits the best by far and is noticeably lighter than even my pista. Size XL though. Clearly fitment all depends on shape of your noggin.

I was able to pickup the GP R on closeout , not much different than the RR and half price

yes . I've work a large in Shoei and HJC , with the Pista I wear an ML . The peripheral vision is excellent, best I've experienced, the aero is great , no head bobble at speed . The ventialation is amazing , even with only the small front open it flows more than my RF1200 .

I have the AGV Pista GP R - I give it 5 stars. It's another level above every other helmet I've ever tried.
  • The aerodynamics alone - wow @ 100MPH no bobble.
  • Visibility in a deep tuck also - a new world of perspective. Sitting vertical on a Multistrada you see the sky more than instruments. It's very specialized for max sporty. (The old AGV in my avatar photo for example - I was constantly fighting to see past the top of the visor. Made me nuts.)
  • Way lighter than other lids I've had. Air flow is also on another level of goodness.
  • Visors are really thick quality

  • (can you tell I'm at work making presentations for clients? bullets!)
  • ok one weak point - the connections on the visors are stupid tiny and easy to break. with care not a problem. but care.
I find they're like shoes though. You fit, or you don't fit unless you get a cheep squishy comfort helmet that I'd never take past 30MPH.
Price - I got the VR46 version which is throwing more absurd money at it for blingy colors.
Point 1) If you have a $5.00 head, get a $5.00 helmet.
Point 2) I like colors. Every time I put it on, I'm in my happy place.
You got to do you.

OK so---if I'm XL in Arai Corsair-X and Shoei X-14, I'm probably an XXL in the Pista---safe to assume?

By the way I'm an XXL in the HJC RPHA-11---so these helmets definitely differ in fit even with size charts that are identical to each other!

I was able to go DOWN a size ML is medium large .. it fits better for me than the large in Shoei whick I've been wearing for years

They have more sizes than usual: half sizes btw. ...ML, M, MS, SM, S,
They fit more oval heads.

Love the AGV Pista GP R, been watching them for a deal. Would you say they run accurate to size, or small? I’m an XL in a Shoei X-14 and Arai Corsair X. Would I be an XL in the Pista GP R?
Thnx,
Greg

Ducati Austin has some Pista GP R and RR in stock... not sure of their try on policy with the whole COVID still being a thing. Otherweise, Dainese owns/ or is owned by, AGV and the Dainese store in Dallas has a bunch on the wall. They are allowing try ons with a cloth helmet liner they were providing.

The above said... I wear a Large in Shoei RF-1200, Arai Corsair-X/Rx-7v and an XL in HJC RPHA 11 Pro... I have to wear an XL in Pista GP R, never tried on an RR

Thank you WyldCFH--so it seems the Pista sizing runs similar to the HJC RPHA 11Pro--in which I wear an XXL----so it seems my question has been answered! :)

Have you called motomummy? I don’t know if their showroom has reopened yet, but they previously had a great selection of helmets in stock, and carried agv.

Yes, I've been by Motomummy several times, in fact I bought my A-stars Missile track suit there. I did try on some helmets at that time but it was a while ago and I forgot their sizes. Last I checked their showroom was still closed---I'll try again soon..
