Best riding schools??

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Like the other posts can highly recomend CSS did the two day camp at Willow Springs and learned a lot for both track and road, I live and work in Africa so take every chance I can to do school days when on leave, mostly in the UK, have done a few Haslam school days plus a few Chris Walker race school days, I have the mad idea of entering a race or two despite my passing years and slight paunch !!

I did treat myself to the ultimate school day and did the Troy Bayliss Academy at Ducati Week in Misano last year, to say he rides on another level would be a mssive understatement ? he rides on another planet !! great great day though and definitely one tick on the bucket list ?

As all the posts say any school can teach you something and improve your riding skills and bike knowledge plus you have a blast so yes sign up and enjoy the experience

ill ask them either way i would go . hell i went to yamaha alone

Mark, I did CSS alone in August and was planning on it solo in May. We can split a room/garage if you want to do the May class at VIR since I was planning on going anyway. If we get enough guys from the forum to go we can setup our own little Ducati island. Or wait, in your case an HP4 island. :)

So...i looked at the css school, 2500 is alot of money however from what i saw they provide the bike and gear which would make things alot easier. Looks like the 2 closest to me are virginia and new jersey, any advice as to which might be better?
Thanks

If your close to NJSWP save some cash, take your own bike and hook up with Tony's track days. It might be a little more relaxed and Tony's instructors are good. Lots of one to one and they can video you too.

Not to bag on CSS but I've met plenty of guys that have gone and I've not noticed a marked increase in their speed on the track. Just saying its a lot of coin for a little gain. Plus who the .... here wants to get caught riding an s1000r...lol.

Says the guy with the bike that costs twice as much as the faster bike with less problems (S1K). Sorry, illogical coming from a Pani owner. :)

Lol.... My buddy's S1000 broke down again this weekend :(...FYI...

Sabotage by jealous Pani owners doesn't count as a break down. Was he coincidentally riding behind you at the time (prob half throttle to let you feel like you were winning)? If so, I'd imagine one of the following happened:

1. Your bike leaked so much oil he lost the front end.
2. Your james Bond-esque seat cowl flew off and hit him in the face causing him to wreck.
3. Your bike threw out a handful or two of bolts that gave him a flat.
4. He lost his visual cue in a turn from the shimmering heat wave that was rising up from your bike.
5. He lost it trying to avoid you while passing on the inside since your turn signals didn't work and he didn't know you were turning.

All good theories... But when he can't even get to the ride 'cos it won't start the sabotage by me.. at least.. isn't a factor.... Now it could be other riders ...

I would be down for doing the school at Vir, as long as I know far enough in advance I can take leave...

Once the schedule posts I'll start a thread so we can see who all is going and then get a block of adjoining rooms or something at VIR. It would be a lot of fun to have a large group to take it with and those that can stay after the school ends can get a few laps on the Panis in.

in may i will have the hp4 so the school uses s1000rr so i would ride the hp4. capt dont go booking anything yet i may have something better for way cheaper. ill call you tonight and tell you all about it

Been wating to do CSS with the wife, but means so much travel. Any comperable (well...similar I should say) in Colorado area? If not, we may just plan a Vegas trip for it, two prostitutes with one stone as they say. Have to say, that is a lot of money, especially since I could never convince the wife that I alone get to do it.

Better for cheaper? Yep, you definitely sound like a BMW guy already. :)

CSS (Code school) has been around for 30 years or so. Reason for it, they're just about the best at running these events. I did a two day superbike camp at barber with them last. Some of the best money spent for riding for me. The way they teach it, each session builds on the previous classroom session, by the end of the second day, they've given you a good grounding to start Levels 1 and 2. They teach in such a way that doing track days will enable you to build on that. You can also do the level 3 and 4 as well

Highly recommend and money well spent. As mentioned all the gear including bikes is available for rent so you've not got to buy any gear. Tho to be honest I'd have my own set of gloves and helmet and boots at the least.

Keep in mind, you looked at the superbike 2 day camp which has all the bells and whistles (it's what I did). You have a ratio of one instructor per two students and half the number of riders total.

YOu can do it cheaper by doing two regular days (one level each day), rent the bike and gear, you'll get a higher student to instructor ratio, I think about 5 or 6.

But if you can afford it do the superbike camp.

This is for CSS.
