The physics would suggest that the cost/benefit of removing a disc is a pretty dumb idea anyway. The rotational mass is pretty central and a disc weighs less than a kg? If anything the loss of weight (caliper and disc) is going to increase wheelie and offset the weight advantage. The other factor is stopping, whoda thought slowing down was a thing you actually need on a public road :) This appears to be a fashion statement, a much better idea is to remove actual weight, weigh the tires you're putting on and skip breakfast.

If straight line top speed is the plan, and rotational mass reduction is the goal would I be wrong in thinking they’d be better off using a narrower rear tyre? I mean despite 300km+ being dumb quick on the road already lol. The last thing I’d ever want to do at that speed is reduce my braking ability by 50% for marginal improvements at best?
Not criticising, just trying to be constructive and a wheel size adjustment makes more sense to me.
 
The rider could cut carbs and skip lunch and have better weight reductions.

I am criticizing. It's f'n stupid.
