I just found out how long the pads doesn't last, so I had to get new oem pads (I live 500 meters away from the dealer).
But for next time, can someone recommend a better set of pads for a trackday regular? They should also work fair enough for a highway commuter, but I don't need optimum bite from dead cold..

performance friction brakes (or somehting like that) found on bellissimoto.com

i had them on my corvette (i know) and they were the best. also lots of people who race use them.

I like the SBS RS pads for track days on a bike that will also be ridden on the street.

I have used EBC HH pads for mine after the OEM's were gone, works fine on street and seemed to survive well on the few track days I attended this year.

Brembos are excellent, but they last one heavy day of tracktime. EBC GPAFX is very good and lasted twice the time of Brembo SC pads. GPAFX is very good also outside the track, have had nothing but positive experience about them in the street as well. I've used them in several bikes along Brembo SC&RC pads, and they're now my favourite pads.

I've used Galfer G1375 pads for years. I like them a lot - the way they initially bite and their longevity.

Just keep in mind that Brembo does not recommend street use for the Z04 pads, they're not designed to work at lower street temperatures so they can chew your rotors up. They're great on the track though, I ran them for several years, only switched to the SBS Dual Sintered pads this year and like them equally as well.

It really depends how you like your initial bite. Softer and progressive or a hard initial bite.

This.

There is no such thing as a "best" brake pad, just like there is no such thing as a "best" tire. They all work and feel different, so it is a matter of personal preference.

Personally I like PF for the track. I don't have any bikes that are dual purpose (track and street).

I know that, but amuse me :) Give me YOUR favourite, and how it compares to the stock pads :) That should give me a basic understanding and good enought base to choose my next set of pads :)

Can you highlight the difference between them and the ZO4 pads? Im running ZO4's right now.. thanks J

Doing this will make them last longer

I think both have a pretty strong initial bite, and both have a nice smooth release when trailing them off, so pretty similar. I never rode them back-to-back so can't give a definitive comparison. If I was on trial and had to give an answer, I'd probably say that the SBS DS pads have slightly more initial bite. I like them a lot. I think "most" people would prefer the DC (Dual Carbon) pads, they still have a ton of bite but slightly more progressive initially. The DS pads are significantly more expensive, but also more durable. They're used by a lot of the World Endurance teams. Just make sure you don't mistake "braking power" for "initial bite", having a pad with a high initial bite is not for everyone, it's a personal preference for how you like to brake, which master/caliper setup you're running, etc. Most people like "braking power" because you can slow the bike down without as much lever effort, which keeps you from getting arm pump and makes you more relaxed. Some people don't like high "initial bite" because it can upset the chasses if you don't have a good quality braking system surrounding it and/or you're a little more ham-fisted with the brake lever.

I use Performance Friction. They cost a pretty penny, but they are awesome. When you want to stop, they stop! When you need to brake hard enough and it lifts the rear end off the ground, Performance Friction pads will do it. In the southeast, our heat is blistering in the summertime . Even with the extreme heat, and the race conditions at the end of a 10 lap race or GT race, the PF pads are performing like they were designed. They stop you and the bike. Finally, the PF pads are consistent, lap after lap. As for the street, it may be overkill, and I've converted some race bikes back to the street, but they work well on the street, also. When that car pulls in front of you, or an animal runs out in the road, the PF pads respond. I get ZERO help from PF and no price break except through the shop that helps me. They are worth every penny. Jeff B.
