Can I grab a fistful of front brakes while leaning or do i have to upright my bike before i apply emergency brake? Not sure if our Panigale could apply emergency brake while leaning or not.

Dude even with cornering ABS that seems like an atrocious idea.

You'd be better off kicking your bike over in the garage. You can trail brake alot with the Pani I have found out but, straighten the bike up and brake. Cornering ABS is not foolproof as seen in WSBK and MotoGP.

i'm presuming this is a joke as you or else you should not be riding any sort of bike without knowing the basics.

do yourself a favor and get some rider training.

hell no.

If it is an emergency you need another bike.

But no, you can use different brake amounts dependent on lean angle.

The straighter you are UP, the more brake can be applied.

Huh? There is no ABS in MotoGP. I quit following WSBK but if they use it that's a change made in the last year or two.

in theory the 1299 can handle excessive brake inputs through the lean angle-sensitive ABS; only a handful of bikes on the market now have this technology.

the salesman at my dealer claims that at a demo, he could do various ridiculous things on gravel and wet surfaces and the bike wouldn't go down.

There's trail braking, and then there are mid-corner emergencies that happen in real life. Like going through a turn and suddenly finding a deer standing there (happened to my friend and his 1098 went down right when he braked).

Can you just grab a fistful of brake while leaned over, on a 1299S? I hope the system works as well as Bosch claims it is.

There is no ABS in MotoGP (or Formula 1) - all braking must be 100% manual. ABS is permitted in WSBK but I'm not sure all riders use it.

Ah, just noticed something............... Harley owner. That explains it :D

I grabbed a big handful in an emergency stop situation on a bend and the thing just turned, I thought I was going down but didn't. This was a completely dry day though. I wouldn't try it for fun.

Give the riding school at the nearest track a call and set up an appointment.
You'LL learn as much in one day as you would in a year on youe own.

Of COURSE you can grab a big 'ol handful of brake in a corner. They don't magically stop working just because you're leaned over.

(I notice you didn't ask about consequences....).

Get a used ninja 250 and practice that manoeuvre on it….
After, wipe your tender ....... and try it on the 1299s…

I mentioned this in an older thread....

The salesman I dealt with got to go to the 1299 intro at Valencia. He said Bosch had reps there just to demo/explain the ABS.

The Bosch reps had set up a series of cones in a curve. The riders were told to approach the turn at 35-40 mph, pull the clutch in while leaned over and grab the front brake as hard as they could. Then it gets better. The rain started.

My salesman said by the end of the day he was diving into the cones at 70 mph plus leaned over and grabbing the brake lever as hard as he could and the bike would just slow and stop. The only people who crashed didn't pull the clutch in.

I wanted to try out the ABS so I rode around in my backyard like I was on a dirt bike...I'll say it again...the ABS works so ....... good on the 1299 I'll never ride any bike on the street without ABS. Preferably a Ducati or something as good....BTW, the front brakes work so well I was doing stoppies that scared the .... out of me and the ABS wasn't needed. That is why I rode around the yard, to get the ABS to activate.

why bother pulling in the clutch on that test
bottom line front brakes make the bike stand up a bit in the corner your going to dump it.
dont do it if you have to its probally an emergency and your gonna get hurt as is

do you even understand Bosch's Cornering ABS? 1299 has it. 1199 does NOT. The system reduces the tendency for bikes to stand up on the brakes during a turn.
