"I had good start to the second race, I was feeling good and got into a nice rhythm on the first two or three laps. Unfortunately something happened to the clutch, so being out of the points I decided to bring the bike home rather than doing any damage to the bike. Overall I'm extremely happy and confidence-wise it has been amazing, this bike is 100 per cent capable of being on the podium and a little more time under my belt I am definitely the person that can put it there. I'm not properly bike-fit as I have not been racing for such a long time so I will be a bit sore at the end of the weekend. However I haven't enjoyed myself on a motorcycle like this in a long, long time - so a happy rider is a fast rider!"

from what i hear, it seems some guy in the south of England is pritty happy with the job Hopper did... :) so more to come this weekend... :)

I love watching races at Thruxton. Hopper is on it so far!

The Pani R is much more similar to a GP bike than he UJM he was riding. And Hopper was a hell of a moto gp rider. he ran up front in 07 on the Rizla Suzuki, it's just that he had the misfortune to be running against Stoner and that all conquering 800 Ducati. His move from Suzuki to Kawasaki was his un doing for gp. Hopefully he can really stand out on the Ducati and turn that into a world superbike ride.

I think his battle with alcohol and injuries, combined with some not fortunate rides really did him in. Glad to see he's out there fighting again though. Can't believe he's still so young. Seems like he's been around forever.

I paid for streaming Eurosports Hopkins qualified 2 for the Thruxton BSB SBK went out in race 1 broken exhaust, race 2 better form holding 2nd and spun out dropping the bike with 4 laps to go what a shame, it has the pace hopefully they can get podium or even win before the end of the season

Yeah, bummer.. Totally fractured exhaust header then the get-off.. Hope they keep him runnin the bike...

Im hearing that! Hence all the talk on here of not wraping your Ti exhaust headers, hot hot hot..

British Superbike

FYI re BSB rules are quite different from WSBK in an effort to control costs they have set the rules for 4 years. All bikes use the same Motec ECU, NO traction, wheelie or launch control, no auto blip or down shift. std internal gear ratio set, no closed loop fueling.

It has to be one hell of ride 200+ BHP bike without DTC etc

Wonder if thats no "aftermarket" traction or wheelie because as we know the Duc has both stock in the 1299..;

Does not matter what electronics pkg the stock bike has No DTC period, I was just reading the BSB Tech rules, hence why the same across the board Motec 170 ECU, base version which is what they use doesn't have that feature. Rules very specific about what various speed and linear sensors teams are permitted, + tech scrutineers have full access to the teams ECU. Pistons valves must be stock, rods and valve springs can be changed but not aloud to be lighter than OE
Advantage: R1M - 1199R - Fireblade SP

They gave the 1199R's an allowance for pistons last year. Did they rescind that now that it has the SL ones?

They also publicly report whenever teams get caught cheating. Last year a bunch got nailed in the superstock classes for ECU flashing. Put the rest of the paddock on notice pretty fast.
