Anyone have good pics of what the factory uses?

Started making a bolt on base today but it’s really tight in there and could use some ideas thx

I don't think you need a tool. Just a straight edge to confirm. 1 tooth out and the straight edge will show it

Hard to determine cam centerline with a straight edge

First I want to see how good Leonardo or Lorenzo was (there are 4 cams)

Then I wanna try a couple things

Come on Ed

Pretty sure the only factory tool is a straight edge with two bolts in it. I didn't see any adjustment method when I did the shims

Disco, I think you misread the post. There are quite a few factory tools for this process. Don is referencing cam timing not shim replacement. Shim replacement involves cam positioning retention from your reference point which yes doesn’t require much. Cam indexing/timing is a completely different activity.

Yes, but is there a way to dial the cams? I didn't see any other than skipping a tooth. I might have missed something though

The bolt holes in the sprockets are slotted. If they weren’t they could be machined so they were but they already are

So the arms that reach around the lobe and rocker (I want a reach around) the ones that go on a indicator are $65 ea. Guess there is a long and a short? Do I need both or is it possible to use the long one on both intake n ex?

Maybe you guys should take a browse through the shop manual before posting. Probably answer all your questions
