Has anyone had this happen? I explained these are untimed events but even a supervisor insisted they don't cover ANY track use, even instructional events.

Well ....-

Time to switch to State Farm, they cover track days and instructional events as long as they are not timed (races).

Well that ....... sucks.. Im using them as they were the best quote.. Everythings fine and dandy till you read the fine print.. Wtf... Now what... I wonder if they have it in writing...

I have GEICO and I asked this very specific question just 2 weeks ago when I got the new bike. I was told instructional track days are ok (although I can't find any documentation to prove what I was told )

Time to call GEICO I giess

They're all so contradictory, I don't trust any insurance policy when it comes to track days. I currently have Geico, and they specifically told me they do not cover ANY track use...instructional or not.

My friend has State Farm, and they told him they cover non-timed track days. I called them and said the same thing as Geico, nothing on the track us covered. I think they did cover non-timed events in the past, but not anymore.

It seems as though different agents will give different answers as well...which is scary.

The way I see it, if you plan on tracking it, be prepared to pay out of pocket if something goes wrong.

I'm thinking that too now...it's on the user...at the track.

I went over the policy with them on the phone and while it excludes racing (and hill climbing, just in case that's your thing) it makes no blanket statement about track use. They wouldn't budge.

Just talked to them, "no track use" period..
I may be way to analytical here but for arguments sake..
You could be legitimetly doing a riders saftey course, improving your ability to handel the bike, react to others and ultimatly make you a better rider all durring an untimed event.. Hell Geico even asked me if I've completed a riders saftey course in the last two years because Hey it makes you a better rider... Now their gunna tell me "oh no not that riders saftey course".... Cool... Real ...... cool...

i have statefarm because geico wanted 6500 a year for the pani and another 6500 for the hp4 hahahaha give me a break

i think foremost and progressive both cover track days but for that foremost wanted 4500 a year dont really remember.

bottom line if you crash your insurance will go up.

i ride a dedicated uninsured track bike. if i crash its on me and i fix it.

You're right BadL...I made that argument with them. They smiled politely (over the phone) and told me my policy was still cancelled.

Wait, they cancelled you after you ASKED if they covered trackdays?!

I called and confirmed as well..in spite of the "selling agent" lying about non-competition track use allowed, the agent confirmed no track use, what so ever, allowed under policy..

no wonder people lie and claim they crashed on an empty country road (seen it happen)

To clarify, this is with GEICO?

Has anyone got a copy of the written State Farm policy that says they cover non-timed events that occur on a race track?

ah crap. time to look into switching. And Geico has been giving me killer rates for years. AND...I did $10k damage to my Audi RS6; they paid it seamlessly, let me choose my favorite trusted shop to do the work...and then my car policy dropped about $30 a month the next year :p

so you called up and asked...and they said..."you're fired" ..... style?

otherwise... how would they find out?

Dudes-
The major companies are hip to the whole (educational events) wording.. Read the fine print and almost all of them have loop holes that alow them to get out of paying for anything that is (performance related).. Now a days they do a bit of digging on the track day organizers and venues and conclude that from a legal stand point that we know how to ride pretty damn well and the only reason we are at a track is for competitive purposes weather timed or not... Fight them in it and they've got legions of lawyers to tie it up for way more than the value of any Ducati!
I just went through this with Liberty mutual which I recommend anyone cancel if they are currently using..

I've heard good things about State Farm but I think on a closer look they would lean away from any closed course activity..

Unfortunately the only option is to fib your way through it- claim it happened on the deserted little back road OR- have a dirty little track whore that you can Slap and tap and cover the cost on Your own !
Expensive yes- but oh soooooo much fun:0)
