It was strange.... I got home from T-Hill and the next day got an email saying I needed to call them regarding my policy...yes, out of the blue. I've been with them several years and have my 3 Ducs and 2 2500HD's insured with them. No claims, spotless record. I called and they spent 20" verifying my bikes...where they're kept.... I was straight with them, telling them the two 1199's were used on the track only...specifying track days. Finally I had to get off the phone (work) and asked if they had any further questions. The woman said yes, they had more questions. I called the next AM and boom...was informed my policies are being cancelled b/c of track use. I tried to explain track days...got a supervisor...no dice.

Seems it's just as CaliRosso said....

YEP- sounds familiar!
But consider yourself lucky that it was canceled (before) a claim..
I'm with State Farm now.. Many guys have had good results But I've also heard (from independent brokers) that if they don't want to support your claim they can and will find a way of not paying (ouch!!!))
and in any case dealing with an insurance company is never pleasant..
If anyone knows of a good solid company that supports enthusiast -post up and maybe we can all get a good group deal.

I used to have state farm for my previous 3 bikes...couple of zx6r's and a daytona 675. Started out with them for my 1199 as well but soon after found out that they don't cover track days. I never had and still don't have any intentions to ever track my 1199 but still...it gave me a reason to shop around. ScrapperX mentioned AAA Insurance and how it covers track days so i called them and got a much better quote with higher coverage and only $100 deductibles. Also includes towing so switching was the obvious choice. Now that i have a cheap track bike, i need to call and ask if it's even worth insuring it or not but either way, my out of pocket expense dropped on the 1199. I had a tip over at work type of claim on my 675, which state farm did pay for without increasing my rate but still wasn't good enough to keep.

I'm with State Farm. They will cover a damaged bike on closed course, non-race.

I'm with state farm they will not cover closed course non timed events even if it's skills enhancement such as msf though you get a discount for the msf lol

We cover the house the cts , ford raptor two ducs and 2 track bikes and the trailer.. I dropped the coverage on the track bikes as they recently changed policy with closed course. . The bikes however are covered still from theft while in the trailer

I watched State Farm pay out no more than six weeks ago for such an event which is to say it appears to depend on who you talk to and the day of the week.

Some company needs to come along and offer explicit track and theft coverage policies and we as track riders need to support them. An explicit yes is better than this maybe they do maybe they don't, who did you talk to/how did you phrase it crap we deal with.

This talk had me call my insurance company and ask them about this... and also ask for the policy as I could not find mine. This is what my policy with Allstate says:

10. loss or damage arising out of the participation in any
prearranged, organized or spontaneous:
a) racing contest;
b) speed contest;
c) demolition contest;
d) stunt contest;
e) off-road contest;
f) cycle performance, maneuvering, or endurance
contest; or in practice or preparation for any contest of this type

i asked them about this particular wording and they stated they would cover if this was an educational experience, ie there was an instructor on the course with you to teach you how to ride the bike.

Sounds like its all in the wording on how you describe your claim to your agent at the time of the 'accident' at the track

.... I was straight with them, telling them the two 1199's were used on the track only...specifying track days.

I suspect that particular explanation is what brought the ban hammer.

Actuarial science involves known risk exposure. They can calculate exposure with street machines that are occasionally used for non-competitive track events. But exclusive track event usage? How do you assess that exposure?

Thats the type of answer I was waiting for; when I got my quotes SF was the second line behing Geico.. Its all in wording.. I'll be looking into SF again... I hear everybody who says pay outta pocket because your rates will go up but realistically I may not have the extra scratch layin around at the time of a costly getoff...

So based on folks' comments here I called my local State Farm agent on Friday and got a quote then specifically asked about track days. She was unfamiliar with those so on Monday she called her underwriters to ask and called me back today:

"It doesn't matter if it's racing or un-timed...State Farm won't cover the bike if it's on a track."

Again...win to CaliRosso-

Mat

Another happy State Farm enthusiast here.

On one of these "what insurance Co threads" I posted what I'm paying them and the coverage amounts, andif I recall correctly I had one of the lowest annual premiums too.

Though my Tri will never see the asphalt of a track I'm content knowing (thanks to you all) that it's covered for it though, just in case I lapse into a medically induced coma and one of you guys (I think my bro Mark419NY-may even have my spare key) allow it to be railed on at VIR or something! ;)

State Farm all the way!

Ps. Anyone looking for a killer deal on rates is free to PM me for contact info on my awesome SF Rep! (He's in Virginia directly across the street from my other awesome hook up-my Ducati dealer) but he even pulled off writing my coverage when I lived in the Tulsa, OK area too- and that was when I ddidn't even know where Oklahoma was on the map! :)

Dropped by Geico this morning for asking a hypothetical "do you cover track days"

Yes, it sounds crazy right?

That's exactly what happened.

I got full coverage on 6/20/2015. Have only had the bike for 30 days.

Geico first deducted 2nd month's premium at 12:01 am, only to cancel my full coverage later in the day. Talk about a calculated scam

Now they have 2 month's premium and are asking an additional $22.00 prorated charges and aren't willing to reinstate full coverage.

Why...??? you ask...

Because I called a customer service person 2 weeks ago, simply to ask if Geico covers instructional track days and if I was to attend one in distant future, would they cover me.

Their answer was a No, which I understood and moved on...

That's all

They have lost the recorded call (how convenient) and are not giving me any concrete reason for dropping my insurance.

If you are with geico, switch your insurance company if you can.

I am sharing this so others wouldn't learn the hard way like I did

Have a good day all

I think there was another thread about this a couple weeks ago with Geico. They have also cancelled the policies of several people I know that have cargo vans registered for personal use in the past 60 days as well.
