CAR vs. BIKE

I'm by no means an amazing rider. With approx. 12-14 trackdays in intermediate group experience I'm sure I couldn't match that pace but, is is just me or did he look like he really wasn't pushing that bike nearly to it's limits?

ALSO, in one of these comparison's it'd be great to lead a car in that caliber and a bike in that caliber BOTH to be on a set of control track/slick tire to see/compare the results...

I thought he was quite smooth.
That's why it looked so relaxed.

I'd put my money on the P1.
Unless if value-for-money is the measurement, for which i'd pick the SL anytime.

I agree, the P1 is such a leap more from the "run-of-the-mill" MP-4, while if we're being honest the SL is a tarted-up R. I bet the SL wouldn't be more than 0.5 second a lap faster than an R with the same rider. Doesn't mean I wouldn't still enjoy watching both the P1 and the SL being put to the limits on the same track though.

I bet the P1 would be about 3-5 seconds faster per lap. For the extra $900,000 over a MP-4, it better be!!!

we just migth all be much surprised what difference an SL might make over an R... as to the P1 on a twisty track? traction an issue? but it will be torquier tne the MP4 , so... could be interesting..

Both pilot and rider would have to be notched up a tad to really know i fear.. say Louis vs Sam? :)

Here's my other baby...she needs something special, something super to compete against.

Very nice indeed!

However, the SL has no chance against a P1 on track IMHO. Road America, Spa, etc. the SL would be toast. Better to bring a full-on SBK-spec 1199. Even still, the aero advantages of the P1 combined with essentially the same power-to-weight ratio of the bike make it a no-contest match on the track. Again, for $1.1 million, it better deliver!

It certainly does deliver Jeff. I've driven the P1 on the track and on the road but I've only managed to ride an S on track. Worlds, no, galaxies apart! Maybe even universes...but I still prefer 2 wheels!

I think a lot of us always forget that TIRES TIRES TIRES can make a WORLD of difference and I'm pretty dam sure even a SL won't be rocking tires as amazing as these's:

Yes, same manufacturer (Pirelli) but I'm sure a nice set of slicks and tire warmers, set up suspension and a kick ass rider, and an SL would give a P1 a run for it's money. I know everyone thinks the acceleration of a P1 would top the bike, but after seeing a Bugatti SS get decimated by a BMW 1000RR, I'm not sure a P1 would be that much fast in a straight line up to say 170mph. I just realised that SL is 166kg wet without fuel, not with fuel.
That means with 18L (?) of fuel it will be around 180kg ish, if not slightly above that.
Considering Panigale S is around 188-190 kg with full tank and stock exhaust + stock battery, that is not much of a.difference, no?
shorai battery = around 3kg less.
Carbon subframe = around 5kg less.
Carbon tank = around 1-2 kg less?
So, SL weight is achievable with Panigale S + around $10k or less? Really? I though the weight is supposed to be within the realm of 'a dream'?

Did I miss something?

(Sure you're still not getting the 200+hp though....)

200+hp with a bit of work can be achievable :)
