The heat shield that came with my Pani 2013 is just so damn ugly.

What can I do about it? I want a CF one but is this wise? Does it replace the entire unit or is it a cover that goes over it? If one is recommended, where should I get it from? What have others done? Cheers

The updated CF that is on the Full Termi will fit the stock manifolds.

This looks much better and it gets less heat than the ugly stock one that you have because it has better shielding, and it is connected under your seat than directly on the exhaust.

I am not sure if the 1st version on the termi heat shield will fit the stock manifold, but there are pictures that show the 2nd version fit these stockers.

Is it possible to purchase the second version without purchasing the full exhaust?

i have an extra one which is the heat shield in carbon and the metal that goes underneath it. its matte finish retails for like 400 make me an offer. its been in the box since i got it. i have the original cf termi heat shield i like it better and i have the other new one in a box

ps this is for the heat shield only i dont think have the hardwarei will have to look through my stuff.

Im not sure either full termi would fit without the mounting hardware. I know they would not. Mounting hardware would be required.

If the second one works the first one would too, the second just gives you better leg protection as well as a primary and secondary heat shield.

The first one just has silver looking tape straight on the CF. Mine needed heat wrap to be tolerable.

Yes I agree that you will need the mounting hardware, which I assume would be included whether you buy the 1st version or the 2nd version. I am also assuming that you say this because some aftermarket CF shields do not come with hardware?

Are you confirming the fit of the 1st version and it is installed on your bike? You have the stock manifold just like the OP? Can you provide photos?

Thank you.

there are pics on here with the new heat shield on a stock pipe. i know cause i posted them. people claimed it couldnt be done. just i posted it last year good luck with search feature

Stay positive Mark.... :p

I have the first version on full termis

I know the diameter of the stock pipes is much smaller. So larger works, and as mark states it has been done in the past, I have read about it.

I also know the screw on the side of the stock pipe is missing I believe and if it was, it would not be in its correct location. So you will have a hole in your CF heatshield.

I think it is better to buy the one that fits properly posted above.

Mark,

Yes I have seen the photo of the 2nd version on stock pipes. Outhouse is saying he has the 1st version on his.

Also, the 2nd version has additional inner metal plate. The 1st one does not.

correct new version there is a metal shield to protect the carbon shield. you can still put the screw in to cover the hole it just wont screw into anything.

i like the first termi heat shield the best all my carbon is gloss

Ah.

I have the matte on mine which is why I am probably going to change to the V2 and remove the vertical cylinder cover since I like the open design better. I hope it doesn't get too hot @@.

Well, to the OP, looks like the V1 Termi CF "should" fit. It would be awesome to have someone post a photo so we know how it looks on the stock headers. The V2 Termi CF does fit and there are actual photos on this forum on the fitment.

I have vast experience fitting CF heat shields to stock systems, mostly bad. They burn! Or, at least, cook to brown.
My plan was to fit the "shorty" 1st Gen CF shield to my stock system instead of the bulky, heavy, ugly 2nd Gen. factory fix (even in CF).
Bolting the shield to the stock pipes' stand-off resulted in the loss of said fasteners. (No grade Locktite can withstand the exhaust heat). Now I saftey-wire the drilled allenhead bolts. I also use stacked heat washers under the shield.
Initially, I tried to use the 1st Gen. Full System factory CF shield intended to bolt under the seat frame using the strap hardware. Funny thing is that even tho the diameter of the full system is larger, the radius is smaller. So the stock system curved pipe contacted the rearward edge of the shield (even with my determined use of Dremel tools).
Bestem replaced my cooked shield on my promise that I had solved the problem of bolt loss resulting in pipe-to-shield contact. A good company.
I also had the pipes ceramic coated inside and out.

Exactly. I've put out one race car "carbon FIRE". (prototype lemans thing) I don't really want that to happen to my bike.

I'd assume that race cans, or removing the cats from the stock cans should be plenty to get the heat down enough for small carbon shields. But a huge stock sized shield on a catted up exhaust, is most likely a firetrap. I'll let ya'll guinea pig that 1st.

Keep in mind that the Termi carbon shields aren't as large as the stocker.

the reason the copied carbon fiber heat shields burn is because they are mounted to the stock pipe and yes they burn. the carbon fiber heat shields mount to the subframe not the pipe.

The full termi system has 1 screw still mounted to the pipe.

Other options

Guys, guys, all this talk of heat and burning and turning brown.

Just do like I did and ceramic them--inner & outer coating. More than 6000 miles later (with no heat shield), NO BURNING, no flaking, & no ugly exhaust/header wrap. Choose the right shop since some guys' coatings have flaked.

Then pick whatever, if any, heat shield tickles your fancy. Problem solved.

(If you want details and pics, I've posted in the "Panigale Pucture Thread" p.71 and elsewhere.)
