What a difference a couple of years makes. He was almost unassailable on the 1198R in 2011. Ducati has ended the careers of too many good riders in the last few years - Rossi, Spies, Hayden, Melandri...
Not the way he wanted to go out I'm sure, but at least he got his world championship and is the only Spaniard to ever win the SBK title.
