Catalunya Spain Race Predictions

Can Dovi do the unthinkable and continue with win streaks to win the championship. Now that will be cool for Ducati and Dovi.

The fact that he won in Italy on a Ducati then followed up beating the Spaniards in Spain is remarkable. No one fell off, no inclement weather to slow down the "faster" guys, no different tire choice that paid off. Just a methodical ride, and he had the pace.

JLo I thought made progress. Second week in a row he led the race. True he dropped back, but then recovered. I think Marquez's slightly wild pass put him off a little and caused him to lose pace for a bit. If he'd tried Dovi's plan and stayed pace for a bit then attacked later he might have been in with shot.

The Ducati isn't the bike yet to do his old trick of getting out early making a gap and then controlling it home. Still running wide; to hear Gigi tell it the problem is the first touch of the throttle mid-turn is still too harsh, causing the bike to run wide. So unfortunately with sealed engines it isn't addressable until next year.

Vinales's inexperience showed this weekend. He doesn't seem to have any clear understanding of why he wasn't fast.

So another week of great racing. This was a tactical race for sure. With all having issues with grip and tire choice to go the distance. Dovi has proven that his race craft is right up there with the Aliens. Humble as always and truthful to the point of realizing that these two incredible results in no way state that Ducati is back in the hunt for the championship. I am surprised that MM was so patient. He had a really tough weekend along with many of the factory guys. MM just could not get his footing this weekend. (literately) And both factory Yamaha guys seems to not figure out what Tech 3 has. How to get the Yamaha to work at Catalunya's slippery surface while preserving tires.

It is not often that I watch races 2x during the year but I have found my self these last two races watching them over. With no clear run away and the racing providing some great strategy. This years seems to be a classic in the making.

Till the next great race.

Blade.

JLo overheated his tires by pushing early, if he was more patient, i think he would've been up there with H / H tire choice.

I thought Tech 3 are still on the '16 M1 bikes.

I am not to sure about that. I thought I heard a interview stating that they were on '17 bikes but not getting every bit of the latest tech from Yamaha factory. That it was kind of trickling in to them.

From the latest article on Crash.net. Davide Brivio from Suzuki talked about the lack of a Satellite team. he mention in the interview that Yamaha Tech 3 is using last year's bike, they have data to use in regards to the evolution of their development.
