CDT/Full Six carbon fuel tank

I believe I was one of the first to get a tank from them (early 2015) and was the unfortunate recipient of the first set of 1299 body pieces (complete disaster). The tank I have to say was excellent in both appearance and mechanically. Tank has close to 18k miles on it and it's been bulletproof. I bought a second tank late 2016. Same situation. No issue. The finish on the CDT stuff is very good (normally). The fit at times is a completely different story. The issue at CDT seems to be that QC doesn't give 2 ..... about anything but the finish and getting things out the door. CDT has a bunch of OEM biz and that's where the effort is focused. With the tank I know "just send it back" sounds great but the wait time for a replacement is somewhat of a bitch depending on the circumstances. Functionally, I'm sure it's fine. For 400 bucks, I could live with it. For 2k plus, yea I'd want a new tank. You should have seen the first fairing stay they sent me. You would feel good about your tank.
Yeah if it didn't take so long to get it wouldn't be a big deal. But I can see having to wait again and that's the hard part. I'm painting it so I could just have it smoothed out but that's going to mess with my OCD knowing it's not perfect under the paint. My luck sucks sometimes...

The fairings and all the other parts look to be awesome though. Excellent fit and finish.

That's great! Thanks Brad. Any chance you can post a similar picture so I can send it to them?

You know the story with pics on here. If that were mine I would get the painter to fill it as he paints it. Know one will ever know. I am painting mine. Not me but a real painter. I want to keep mine as OEM as possible. Only a small area will show the CF.

When I got my tail piece there was an issue and they just sent me a new one. On another occasion the supplier in the USA did their own QC and found a fault on a piece and just delayed my delivery till they got a replacement. I now have every piece to replace every plastic bit and only had 3 issues and all were resolved. I dealt with Shift Tec and they were great.

Same here, everything is getting painted except for some minimal exposure. I was just hoping not to have to do any fill. I was lucky in that every other piece is a perfect fit and finish. Thanks for the heads up on Shift Tech!

Speaking of fairing stay. Mine seems to be a perfect fit but what is the big bracket looking thing underneath? I'm assuming it's for a halogen headlight or something but it's unused on my LED 1299S. Adds what feels like a ton of weight. I might just grind it out of there. They used a .... ton of adhesive on it to secure it to the stay. Any ideas?

"Hi,
All the tanks have the same line, it is so from production.
It is not defect nor manufacturer problem.
Don't worry. You can see the same line from our listing pictures."

They are referring the the line in the weave, not the actual dip in the surface that I'm referring to. So frustrating.
