CE Standards..I did not know this...

Like I said, it's likely not worth it for them to seek a third party approval for what they already know. Inspect them side by side and you will see the differences, but we are talking about a 1299s, vs an R, vs an SL. It's not like you are really undergunned either way.

I'm looking into the Dainese D-Air suit from Europe and it has no certifications whatsoever, even though the technical specs from some of it's tests show it blows the ratings out of the water. For whatever reason, Dainese didn't bother with any CE approvals.

True I am gonna run up to Revzilla and look at both the Atem and Dainese's suits and see. Where can you see the tech specs of Dainese Suits I cant find any?

Ask them when you get there. You really have to dig for that stuff. The Revzilla guys seem to really know what they are doing.

One trick is to set your location on the Dainese website to something other than the USA. It's looking like I'll have to buy the D-Air from Italy since they aren't allowed to be sold by Dainese USA.

Ok so after some interweb raiding I found this also.

Dainese Laguna Seca Evo Suit specs

Suit itself is CE Lvl 2 approved
The Armor which is all hard armor is 89/686/EEC Directive Approved which is alot more strict and stringent than the CE Approved LVL 1/2. So just like Taichi is tougher and more resilient so will the Laguna EVO Suit from Dainese.

Yeah, the new C2 lineup from Dainese is supposed to be fully approved. It would be interesting to know if the suit is actually any different from last year. I suspect quite a few from the known manufactures would pass as-is, but aren't sent in.

That was a very interesting article to read.

shakazulu12,

are you saying that Dainese garments for the European market are made "better" than the garments that come to the USA, or are you just saying that you can't get a Dainese D-Air suit in the USA? I'm just curious.

Same suits, you just can't get D-air in the USA. Apparently the only people who can service them in the event of a crash are in Europe and travel with the Moto GP circuit quite a bit. Todd from Heroic posted on FB the other day that he had just passed a Dainese D-Air repair certification class, but didn't answer when someone asked if that meant the suits were coming stateside.

Cheaper out of Europe right now anyway, but there is a bit of a language barrier.

I have that suit, had to go up one size from my jacket (which is also Dainese) for the one piece. Nice suit, Dainese do have longer sleeves than most FYI.
