I use WD-40 on a rag to clean, never lubed a chain since o ring chains don't need lube. Never had a chain get rusty on me before.

I went for this, I decided on the Ipone after seeing the YouTube vids above, ill give it a go and see how I get on

I destroyed the stock DID chain on my V4 in 6500Km. I had 3 tight spots (where the chain has stretched unevenly). The chain was throughly cleaned with Motul Chain Cleaner and a chain brush every 1000km and lubricated every 500Km with Motul Road chain lubricant. The bike hadnt been used on track before this chain was changed. Chain tension was checked at every major clean and tension was always set at the tightest part of the chain.

Even with very rough regular gear changes (which wasnt the case, I'm a very smooth rider) the chain failed prematurely. After I saw this video I am nearly certain the issue was the Motul chain cleaner that soaked in past the o-ring and affected the internal grease of the chain.

I have a new chain (DID ZVM-X) and I am using IPONE cleaner. 2500Km in and havent need to adjust the chain tension at all. Sure the chain is much higher spec than the stock one... but interesting all the same

Very informative videos. Old dogs can learn new tricks, and I appreciate the information.
