I posted a video detailing the installation of a switch to manually override the 1299, 1199, 899. 959 fan. Throw the switch when you get into traffic at about 180-190F and the bike stays under 200F. Aside from the undersized radiators, Ducati has the fan kicking on at 212F. By then the bike heat runs away. Will reprogram the fan when I get a tuneboy and Mac radiators.

Mine' doesnt take long to get to 219F in city traffic...

Is their any other kind of remap other than tuneboy that can get the fans kicking in sooner?

Tuneboy tunes already have a slightly lower fan on point but tunes can be edited to lower fan on-off points to any temp desired, but it is not with the included software, There is a tune edit program from them that can be used. There is a post about it somewhere on here. You have to ask tuneboy direct for the tunedit program
 
core the stock pipes and get rid of the heat-retaining cats. :cool:

Then I need that tunedit program. Are people turning the fan on at 180?
 
I played with it a little and started at 185 on 180 off and on hot days 95+ in traffic the cooling system wont go below 189-190, so I have mine set at 195 on and 190 off,

Does anyone know if this is available in the tune edit program? Just asking before I dig out my laptop and cable. I've moved a couple times so it's not where I can put my hands on it quickly.
 
I wish this was possible on melcodiag the only option I want to change is the ecu fan set point.

Anyone tried evans waterless coolant?

Well, that's cool. Looks like Wayne put the tune edit program into the tuneboy download now. Go to the support page and download the latest and you can change your fan on/off temps if you have tuneboy

I'm doing this TODAY! Wifey will be at work when I get home, just one, make that two honeydo's and this will be done.

I'm gonna set the fan at 185 and see how it does. I doubt it stays under 200 a little relief always helps.
 
Hey sorry to high jack this thread when you originally started it but I also another video on turning the fan on sooner. I didnt watch your whole video and this link may be redundant. If not maybe it could be another fix. Here is the link to the youtube video. I dont remember how I even found this video but its pretty cool how this dude has an on off switch for his bike.

I did the same with an 84 Vette I had

Same scenario, I installed the switch and no more running hot.

Shot out to RPM429 for helping me with the tuneboy flash. It's one of the reasons we all come to this forum, get help and learn new ideas from each other. I didn't understand how to reprogram the Tuneboy software to turn the fan on at a lower point so I sent him a PM and he got me through it. Thanks for the assist.

For those with a Tuneboy turning on the fan before 212 can absolutely be done. Remember the first fan on temp is 217. This is to clear out any moisture in the system. After that the fan temp can be turned on at lower at 201 and off at 192, otherwise its on at 212.

Every little bit helps with the bike. Now that this is done I think I'm gonna give up riding in jeans and get some none track day leathers (no pucks) It means I will no longer be able to ride to work which I've done a few times this year. I'm better off in leathers on weekend rides anyway. I either give up riding to work or dare I say it, get me some chaps. Lol
 
I run the Bren tuner. Fans definitely come on sooner,much better than stock. Nevermind the bike runs a ton better.
 
I was thinking about getting the Mac radiator system part # 1999all. I received an email back from Mac saying if I installed this setup I would need to trim the plastic in order to allow the fan to still fit. Have you installed the Mac system yet? And if you have did you need to trim the plastic to allow th fan to fit and work? Or could the Mac system be installed without touching any plastic? Thanks

Am I understanding you correctly - you only have 2 options for the fan turn on point with turn boy - 212 degrees (OEM) or 201? There's no adjustment lower? If so, that's lame.

I will still need a switch or some way to fool the sensor into thinking it's hotter than it is (resistor). What else would this effect through?

I installed a push button switch with a red light. When I click the button the light turns red and the fan goes on. But I must of done something wrong. The fan error light appeared on my screen. Any chance you would happen to have any idea of what was done wrong to get the fan error light?
 
I was searching online to figure out what went wrong with my switch install. The fan error code popped up on my screen. And while searching I found a thread on this forum. Guys were discussing the fan switches. So one guy gave a name of company called Trail Tech. They make a LED gauge that you mount to your radiator and plug into your fan. Then set the temperature you want the fan to turn on. The kit comes with a fan that cant be used without bikes. But the guy who wrote the name Trail Tech said you can call them and they would sell just the two parts needed without the fan.
