So finished my body work today and go for a test ride when I notice the light is on after start up. It wasn't before and all I disconnected has headlights, taillights, turn signals. I have the plug in for the kickstand. Can any of these for some strange reason cause a check engine light??

You need to trace the wires from both front and back brakes and disconnect them . I had same prob . Both on right side of bike . Rear is plug behind faring mount around mid section of bike and the front is not a plug but two wires with but connectors are around upper part of fairing , disconnect the grey one and you should be all set .

I have same issue as well. I pointed the gopro at the dash to see when it came on. My check engine light comes on same time as ""stop lamp" warning. I traced the rear brake switch wire back to connector and removed it. It still does it. I would love to figure this out. It bugs me to have a check engine light on when there is nothing wrong (or I hope) with the motor. wfoduck....are you saying the front needs to be traced back as well to prevent the warning and subsequent engine Light?

Guys if you disconnect the headlights for track fairings dont forget to unscrew the air sensor that sits on top of the headlight unit. screw it into the front intake and plug it in. Not doing this will give you a check engine light as well

Front brake wires are under right side mid fairing near top by gas tank . Male / female butt connection not typical plug . Disconnect grey wire

Worked flawlessly. I unhooked both front wires. Any reason for just the grey? Thanks again....this has reduced a headache. U da man!!!

Don't think it makes a difference if you unhook one or both . Pulling one does the trick that's all .
