Cleaning Face shield...

some drops of johnsons baby shampoo in a spray bottle, cover the helmet, lay paper towel over it, cover and soak again, let it rest for 15 min, wipe off, done.

I haven't used the soap, but I certainly will lay the wet payper towel over and soak for awhile, that always does the trick. I also agree with above, Plexus use makes bug cleaning much easier.

Though admittely, and just to rub it in, Here in Colorado we have about 1/100th the bugs you guys have. Altitude has its benefits.

+1 for Plexus and a microfiber cloth here. Don't use paper towels on a nice visor. The Bike Spirits / Honda Polish works fairly well too, just doesn't come in tiny cans like Plexus.

Texas is bug heaven..or hell depending on whether you are a rider or a bug...lol... I will try the Plexus..seems to be the consensus here..Thanks guys...

Good point, I shoudl have been more clear. I will soak a paper towel and lay it on the shield to soak the bugs, but will NOT clean or wipe with the paper towel. I use a Gerber cloth diaper.

Yea, plexus is the ..... I live in Florida, and we just went through love bug season here. Hit your visor with a shot of plexus before you leave to clean off any dust/detritus that may have settled on it in the interim, and then hit it again with some after the ride to clean off any other bits that may have landed on your shield. I keep a small bottle of it and some microfiber cloths in the tank bag on my Monster in case I get hit with a big bug in the middle of the ride. That .... works wonders. It's expensive, but it's well worth it. My shield feels and looks like new every time I wear it, and some times I have to actually double check I'm using a shield, that's how clear and clean it gets from that stuff.

is this really a thread?

use some water and a rag...I have the same shield...tons of bugs....you do need to actually wipe with the afformentioned water and rag though.

Thank you for your valuable insight.....

Living in Texas means been hit by bugs...constantly...so I am now trying to clean my Arai face-shield... I have tried hot soapy water....Windex.. but to no avail... it still has lots of bug smear.... What should I be trying???...shield is a couple of years old and probably should be replaced..but I would like to try to clean it if poss....

When I get back from a ride, my wife cleans my helmet, I do not know how she does it or what she uses.

Do I need to know ?
:D

I used to use Honda Polish or S100 detail, but I found Invisible Glass dissolves bug guts the best.

Now, the question is... to satisfy my OCD, since I clean my bike after each ride. What is the best stuff to use to clean the wheels of break dust and gunk. I've been using Motul chain cleaner since I just have it around, but I think it's oxidizing my nice rims.
