Hello All!

Just wanting to hear what the community has to say or what you guys think about clear clutch covers on ducs. I used to have one on my V2 but do not plan on putting one on my V4. I prefer the ducati performance clutch case saver. What do you think? Love them? Hate them? Why?

To me form follows function in the mechanical dept. I cannot see any practical reason to have a clear cover. The cosmetic angle is obviously a fake dry clutch look and to get talking points as the washing goes round and round, in short its a no from me but I can also appreciate that people like to personalise their bikes.

I had one on the last bike. I was having clutch issues (caused by one of my not so hot ideas) on an EVR. I threw the clear cover in there so I could see what it was doing and it kinda stayed there after the clutch was fixed. It was strictly visual at that point but did look pretty cool with the EVR unit. Now a clear cover with a stock clutch, goofy.
Retrospectively, the dry clutch doesn’t look much different than the wet clutch with the cover. Hmmmm

+1 for the GB Racing stuff….if you have a dry clutch they have a ventilated version that will keep gravel out of you dry clutch in a slide.

personally I find highly affective to look sexy.

That looks good Steven. I’d actually rather have something less “noticeable” I’ll look into an alternative

really? the duc performance isn’t good for a slide?

That thin carbon fiber isn't going to hold up. Its not abrasion resistant at all.

Bonamici (spelling?) makes a pretty slick looking CNC aluminum one which just sits on the bottom half.

So, I usually make my own sliders because I always find something I have done precludes me from using something off the shelf. In the case of the EVR, I modified a T rex slider. On the STM an off the shelf slider would have to bolt over the clutch guard which I know would require modifications.

I’ll end up making something at some point. On the other side I machined a mount that slides all the way through the Spider mount and then put a Delrin slider on it. It’s very stout and is mounted to a very robust section of the bike. Just need to design something for the other side

Problem solved. Looks like I can just remove the obnoxious STM cage (worthless) use 5mm longer bolts and bolt the GB cover right up. I’ll mill some vent slots into it and try it out.

There's some interesting parts there for sure. That clutch line really caught my eye. Did you make that?
Yes I make all my own lines. Aeroquip hose, Aeroquip forged stainless fittings. I use some crimped fittings and some reusable depending on what it is. I won’t use aluminum fittings on brake lines but I do have them on the QR in the clutch line probably cause I have a .... load of them.

Forgive the newbie question, but with those QD fittings on the brake lines, can you detach and re-attach them without bleeding?
Yes, only reason I use them is the calipers don’t have street dust seals and require periodic cleaning. Calipers are off in 2 min.

The brake manifold is actually a Corse part I got from somewhere. It’s a really cool machined Ti piece and worked perfectly for what I needed. The brake light switch is in the side of it.
