Cold feet, (hot butt) is this the wrong bike for me?

I am starting to second guess myself about this bike. Being on the waiting list gives one time to think about the pros and cons, less of an impulse buy.

I have had my share of Ducatis so I understand what its like to be at a light with other riders checking out your bike only for it to stall and not want to start. And all the other fun things owning a Ducati can bring.
I am in no way a Ducati basher or an apologist for the brand. Just a guy who wants to make the right choice. So far the best all around bike for me has been the Hayabusa but I always return to Ducati.

Question I ask is more specific to ridding sometimes in traffic in a hot southern climate.
Can the 1199 handle this kind of ridding? Is the heat such that I am going to be down right miserable? Will she not want to start up after taking a break?
My wife rides a Honda 1000rr and can't understand my passion with Ducati.

Like I said time in line gives you time to rethink.
Any riders her in hot climates having trouble with the heat issue and starting? Also traffic, I don't expect her to love traffic but she must tolerate it without burning me up.
Leg burns is too high a price for beauty :)

I ride in hot weather. I haven't had any starting issues whatsoever. I don't know how wide spread it is but seems a few bikes here and there are having various small issues. It's the price we pay for getting the privilege of riding the bikes first IMHO and most are being handled by the dealer or seem to have relatively easy fixes.

Regards the heat, I think that also atleast partially depends on how tall you are and how you ride the bike. At highway speeds or anytime you can keep moving not really been an issue for me. However at traffic lights, slow speeds in heavy traffic, it's uncomfortable.

I find it annoying but bearable, I wasn't planning on riding it much in heavy traffic. It's a Superbike and does what it's supposed to. For city riding you'd be better off with a Monster or Multistrada. If you want to go for a blast down country or mountain roads, the highway, go on track or just love speed then it's great and in it's element. Also depends how hardy you are I suppose ;-)

It's been in the high 80s to low 90s since I picked up my bike and the heat has only been an issue in the 10 minutes during the 1,7000+ miles where I had to tolerate some stop-and-go traffic. BUT, if I was using this bike as a commuter and had to endure stop-and-go traffic on a daily basis, then this would NOT be the bike to ride.

I also have a Speed Triple, which is an awesome street bike and I was surprised at what a fantastic street bike the 1199 really is. No seriously, its comfortable (I'm 5'11" 185 lbs), a good sport-touring mount (with an emphasis on sport) as long as you don't want to take much with you, and in sport mode the throttle is much better than Speedie at the on-off transition, etc.

So... A great bike it is; a commuter bike it is not.

I have not had some of the same issues as others but I also don't have nearly as many miles.

The heat is an issue that requires some changes for me. My bike is not a track bike. While it may see a track day or two, I plan to mainly use it for local night rides, weekend cruises on some twisties and a ride to work at least once weekly. I experienced the full bore leg burning heat on the ride home from the dealer as it was close to a hundred degrees outside and I was stuck in stop and go traffic. Because of the heat, I plan my routes in order to avoid as much traffic as possible. The bummer here is that summer has just started so I have 4 months of hot weather ahead.

I don't regret my purchase at all. It is a bad ... bike with loads of power, technology and beauty all in one package. It's a race bike with turn signals on it.
