ok so i have the louis moto seat with gel inserts. Its a great looking seat and very comfortable for shorter rides, but i recently went about 500 miles round trip and the louis seat doesnt cut it for 250 miles. My new buddy flobrandx (who i met at gunnys house) who road from washington state to see the laguna race said he has no problems doing the journey on the comfort seat.

i had the comfort seat and sold it when i got the louis seat. i never road long distances at one time to notice the difference. i know the comfort seat and the race seat are basically the same dimensions. I know the race seat is more grippy but doesnt have the nice stitching.

my questions are

1 how much more grippy is the race seat and 2 how much more comfortable is the comfort seat. if they are the same i would go race seat as i want the grip.

So as you said, the seats are the same dimensions. The comfort seat, forward of the red stitching, is actually the same cover material as the race seat. Given that this is primarily the area you sit on, they have the exact same level of grippiness.

The ONLY difference is that the comfort seat is slightly less firm.

This was based on comparing bikes with my buddy that has the comfort while I have the race. Personally i liked his comfort seat better.

I'd say the grip levels are more on the race by a slim margin.

I would also my comfort seat is going on this weekend.

Unless I'm at the track I prefer the comfort seat by a wide margin.

I've honestly felt and rode both back to back and I don't notice the grip difference. Maybe you sit farther back than I do, or maybe somehow the firmness translates into grip. You agree it's the exact same material forward of the red stitching right?

Next to the foot pegs, this has gotta be Ducatis biggest naughty.

After 200km in the seat today and banging my balls of the tank all to often, I've pretty much had it with the surf board that comes as standard :(

I have the Comfort seat..cannot praise it enough... I have done a couple of 500+mile rides using it and I could still function...

Comfort seat here too. I've used it on track as well as long rides to get to the track and I don't see any need for the race seat.

Took only the 28 mile ride home from the dealership to convince me. The 2nd ride I took on my Pani was to go back to the dealer and get a comfort seat. No regrets since.

thanks guys. since its the same material forward of the red stitching the comfort seat for me will be the choice. i just wanted to make sure that they are relatively the same and since they are their performance on the track and to save my arse on longer rides there is no reason for the race seat. now i will debate selling the louis seat which looks spectacular.

I prefer the race seat by far. No problem riding all day out in the twisties with it. Grip is slightly more than comfort seat but noticeable. The comfort seat looks better on the bike with the red stitching though.
