So I have a 2015 899 with around 1800 miles on it. Always maintained services even though I don't get to ride much. Anyways, I was out on a ride and oil just started hitting the left exhaust. Got it to the closest dealer and they say there is brass in the oil pan and filter. Crank bearings destroyed. They never done a rebuild on a 899 and think it will cost thousands, more than the bike is worth. They reached out to another dealer in NY about getting a new crate engine instead of rebuilding. NY said it would be about 10 Grand. I tried finding a "new off the shelf" engine but had no luck. Anyone know what a rebuild should cost or where I can price a new engine? Can't believe that with only 1800 miles on the engine, the crank bearings would obliterate themselves even with keeping up with scheduled maintenance. Thanks for the assist!!!
