Custom candy pink paint stealth black

Help Support Ducati Forum:

around 1500 for everything the shocks had to be sent out to be disasembled which was also expensive they had to be resealed and nitro charged front and rear was like 1200 which I thought was high

1500 sounds reasonable for all the anodizing. I am not aware of the amount of work that goes into the shocks but 1200 does sound expensive. Thanks for the info.

Though I've enjoyed follwing this post for its 'comedic' value, there really seems to be some tough 'over' opinionated critics lurking on this forum. Everybody is all of a sudden an expert!!! F**k if you don't like something keep it to yourself, but at least show the guy some respect for what he's done!!

So what, it may not be to everyones liking, its 'KUSTOM' not 'CUSTOM' glamorized with as many of your carbon additions $$$ can buy. Its still an 1199, what this forum was developed for. If you don't like it F**K off, and for the record the girl is hot!! Anyone that says otherwise is GAY!!!

i hate carbon its played out in my opinion unless its up againts black carbon and pink thats a no no as far as the seat its custom upholstered with pink stitching look closer the performance seat is suede not a good look up against jet matte black trust me i did that the first time suede and fine italian leather it was not a good look redid it again all black and the flow was rite the stuff u like anyone can just order and bolt on thats fine if u like what everyone else has but thats what separates a custom bike from the rest like i said before its not for everyone just someone who likes to be different

I get it 100% - custom has to be custom - its creative expression.

However, please consider that for those of us that like racing and SBK, mod'ing our bikes with albeit "prescribed parts" is equally entertaining.

Matt carbon is the rage this season :p

Nice job! I can see a lot of work has gone into it.

I can also see what you mean about the pink looking different/darker in RL than in the video under lights by the drying in the sun pics. Still not a fan of pink mind you ;) but understand it looks much darker than in the vid.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of prep did you do on the engine before painting, just a degrease and then rough it up with sand paper or did you go for some kind of bead blasting??

Another question , which I hope you won't think stupid is, did you do the engine in one go or did you dismantle all the magnesium(gold) covers and do them seperately, or perhaps with a different primer??

Sorry for the questions, but I do like the look of the matt black and am interested to learn about how you go about it. You never know might want to try something like that one day.

Thanks and look forward to more pics!

Degrease it and then use a red 3m scuff pad with a prep cream that has a sand grit in it that we use to prep plastic bumpers and scrub the hell out also a coat of adhesion promoter before u paint it with a good engine paint vht

Unless there are two like that I saw you riding through Hermosa Monday. I just got back from an AFM round so not my cup of tea but certainly an attention grabber! I will admit the color looked really good in the sunlight.
