Hi,

any Panigale V4 Speciale owners out there?

I bought the DDA set for my V4S but having troubles with correct installation.
I’d need one or two photos about the mounting situation of the DDA Stick holder.
I can’t find a thread for the mounting screw. And second i do not understand how to place the cable which connects the diagnose socket to the GPS sensor (without drilling a hole). The diagnose socket is underneth the seat and the GPS sensor is mounted behind the seat back.

Does the dash show any information when GPS signal is available? I can't see anything in my dash....

regards
Chris

Wait, what? I haven't got my new DDA for the V4 yet, but the GPS unit has always been mounted in the nose under windscreen just behind the dash.

Typically, its pre-wired to install the GPS in the nose and the USB stick should connect under the seat to record the data.

Unless its somehow been changed.

Well, i also expected that the GPS Sensor will be mounted in the nose.
But i got a lot of cables and brackets with the kit and i was confused what to do with this stuff.
Then i checked the V4Speciale spare part charts and found out that it it's mounted in the back.

Possible, there is still the option for mounting behind the nose. There is a plug and a dummy...

Right... My dealer told me that the GPS is mounted at the tail end. But by the looks of the diagram above... It can be mounted at the nose section?

You can tell if the GPS is present if the map "point" symbol is present as the picture below.

Well, after cabling the system and switching on ignition i did not get this map "point" symbol...
maybe i was impatient. How long does GPS acquisition take? Is the symbole flashing during acquisition?

It's a shame that they are not able to deliver a manual for that

I would think you would want clear line-of-sight for the GPS module for best performance. Installing in the tail would seem to hinder that a bit, yeah?

The DDA on my 1299 was pretty much plug and play in the nose. Just take out the dummy space holder and pop it in, plug it into the provided connector, then just add the USB stick in the tail and that was it. The biggest pain was removing the front clip.

Maybe they are trying to make that install simpler without have to dismantle the front clip completely?

Yes, you're basically right. I think i will try the nose mounting tomorrow.
Problem ist that the diagnose plug at the V4 is underneath the seat, so you always have to loosen the screws to get the DDA stick..

That's why i considered the tail mounting option.
But is i wrote above, it did not work, no GPS signal...

I haven't tried on my Speciale yet but I vaguely remember when I had the Panigale R, all I had to do is to trigger the highbeam flash trigger and would start. And after that it would register the time automatically everytime you pass that point.

Sorry... I misread your question.

I can't tell you how long it takes to acquire the GPS signal now because my bike is at the dealership getting some stuff installed. I'll let you know when I get her back next week.

GPS signal acquisition is almost immediate after Key turn on my R. Test it outdoors after installing the GPS module (the symbol should display even in absence of the DDA unit).

Even tried It with AND without the DDA plugged In the back and NOPE !
Let me know If you can make yours work ... I will keep you posted too ...

Does the engine has to run or just having the dash ON will make this GPS logo appear ?

I know on the 1299 you had to pop into the menu and turn on the DDA. Not sure if the V4 requires something similar.

Race mode vs. Sport mode. Likely may not see the little location icon while in race mode. That could also be related to the MMS system separately.

Just speculating, as I'm unsure.

I have been scratching my head with my kit as well. Best I can conclude is there is the flexibilty to mount in the front or rear for GPS unit. The extra wires and connections are a bit unclear as to their function but one thought is the ability to incorporate the media kit? Any help would be appreciated.

I do believe the kit has the flexibility to mount GPS receiver in the tail or dash. So the wires included make that possible. I still am unsure how to operate any of it if any has experience or directions>
