Yesterday I decided to install DDA+. No instruction what so ever available. My dealer tried get it from the factory, apparently there is not one yet. But how difficult can it be? Turned out quite a bit.
I was already sick for few days, so fever and few poorly slept nigths already made my nerves tight in the beginning. First I removed the rear seat. Taking off the small lid and tools, I could see the wire + connector. But the hole is so small, I could only fit in 3 fingers and unhooking the cap was impossible. Tight holes are not good in all places. Why did Ducati not make the wire 5cm longer so that I could pull connector out and operate it easilly? I decided that I will remove rear fairings to find out if there is more wire, or just extend existing wiring. Otherwise it is a nightmare trying to operate memory plug in and out. Will eventually break connectors or wiring.
But that I'm gonna do the next time. I have a full workshop manual for 899. And I started removing front fairing. Ended up taking all fairings off with various side panels. It wasn't easy for the first time. There are small hooks connecting pieces everywhere. Totally it took 2 hours to remove them. Where the last 40mins went fighting with front fairing. FCUK! The small nose between headlights just did not come out. I was using way more force than I should with plastics. But no. Eventually sprayed WD40 into there and just like magic, front fairing came out with no force. Remember this. The rubber was unbelievable sticky in this case.

On the headlight I found one bolt, apparently Ducati factory mechanic lost one.

Even the plastic piece on top of the gauge was attached with 4 bolts. I guess it stays there... Finally I was able to put in GPS module. It was easy and the connector was there easy to find.

At the same time I glued small rubber pieces into fairing stay under the mirror and mirror bottom. They won't be testing my nerves any more when I remove mirrors for the track.
And the everything back into their place. Now it took only about 30mins to get everything back, when I know where the small hooks are all around the plastics. But still, where in 748-998 one can remove all the fairings really easily in 3minutes, here you have to be a woodoo priest with several spells to get them out without harm. Of course, they are quite a bit more complex than in 998. I sincerely hope that I don't have to get under her skirt very often.

I did not test ride it yet, maybe today in the street. But according to the instrument panel, both GPS and DDA are there.
