Hello all, I have a 2012 1199S, and wanting to get rid of my OEM catalytic converter silencers. They are creating a lot of heat and making the ride uncomfortable, as we are all aware of.
I put my laser thermometer on my mufflers the other day after a ride. After a 15 minute cooldown, the silencers were still 200°F! The curved rear header and engine side covers were much cooler. ( I plan on removing the side covers soon). I suspect I took a reading off the rear curved header heat shield, not the direct header.
On past bikes, I’ve found vendors selling de-catted original OEM mufflers for various motorcycles, including 1098 models. Is anybody offering that service for either completed de-catted OEM Ducati 1199 mufflers for sale, or to convert mine, at a reasonable price? All of the aftermarket solutions are in my opinion silly money. I welcome any and all suggestions.
