Disappointed with the paint

Being completely honest. I havent rode my bike in over a month for several reasons.

1. It took me about 2 weeks to heal from the steam contact burn from the 400 mile ride I took in late June.
2. I had to build a new deck and move my fiance into my house and we had so much going on.
3. Rain, Rain, Rain.
4. I've honestly been thinking about getting rid of it. I dont care what anyone thinks. Ive had my fair share of Duc's. I make plenty of money to "fix" things. I am not spending money like I have before to pay a "termi tax" or in this case the akra tax to fix the heat, the paint is far worse that on my previous Duc's. From what I am seeing, its a hit or miss issue. I can spend $500 dollars to have it detailed and sealed or have the bike repainted. I shouldnt have to do that with something that is a non essential item or a toy. That is my take, I dont love this bike enough to dump thousands more on issues that shouldnt be an issue to begin with.

Sorry to hear no time to ride... i feel your pain, as my bike as been getting some work done the last two weeks (pick it up tonight) but i always feel that even though i dont ride, i feel i have the option to... unlike now, i dont have that option since the bike is not at my house.

Regarding the paint, same issue, but as I said, i had xpel placed on the bike and just extended it to the tank, problem solved and it cost me $50.

As for the heat, all i hear is about the heat and the fixes people do for it anymore on the forum. I came from the R1, which was equally has hot. I dont see the issue as others see it i guess as I came from a bike with high heat (ran around 205-221 F temp consistently). I have never burned myself on my bike or any bike other then when I am stupid and i ride a harley with no long pants (take my fathers out around the block in shorts, lesson learned after the first time). But never a burn do to radiant heat.

I get your frustration Grayson, sometimes you just need a break. I sold my 1199s because of multiple problems and in the end it was at the dealer for 10 months. I bought a r6 and he a ton of fun on it at the track. Had to take a break from ducati for a couple of years as my dealer left a sour taste in my mouth lol.

Low and be hold I'm on a 1299, and couldn't be happier. It's got some of the same issues as the 1199, but the engine is just a beauty. This is actually the first new bike I have ever bought as I always didn't keep bikes long enough to justify buying new. Going to try and hang on to it a bit longer this time around.

Long story short, sometimes you just need a break.

Maybe your right. I took a break in 2011 and it didn't do much good. If I take another break it will be for good. My other hobbies make motorcycling cheap and are far less dangerous.

Im taking a ride this sunday. Time will tell.
