Ditch the cooling fan for a track bike?

The "A" bike is almost complete. Waiting on slicks for the carbon Dymag wheels, adjustable shock linkage and an Ohlins steering damper. Engine is stock except for the Ti Akro system. 1299 tank and subframe and woodcraft rear sets

I blew the engine in the B bike...It has the GP10 scheme.

The exhaust valve was trying to get out....

Very nice!! A and B bike. How many race miles on B? what's your opinion about it?
The B bike engine had about 1000 miles total. I but about 200 of those on it before it broke. It was tuned with MR12. There was so much soot built up I've been told that caused the piston to hit the valve or the crank bearing failed. I haven't had the motor apart yet. It screamed though and the 959 is a great track bike.

Oooooot I think MR12 is too corrosive for these Italian bikes...

Yeah. I certainly didn’t ask for it. After one track day buying that stuff I switched to T4 but I think the damage had been done.

I retained a fan ok on my race bike, even with bigger rads. It has come in handy many times when delayed gridding up or
when stuck circulating at 50km for safety car stuff while endurance racing. No benefit throwing it away for the small amount of weight

I would keep the fans. There are pregrid delays, red flags where you might stop on track and even after the session it’s nice to have the fan to keeps some airflow over the engine once stopped.

Yes I guess the Panigale fans are all plastic and pretty light. Not gaining much by ditching them

Mick1976 does a nice carbon bracket kit for slimming down the fan assembly if you want to get rid of the big duct.
Handy if you are going to run an oil catch pan too.

That's cool. My fluid retention belly pan required removing the duct anyway and provides radiator support

Yes indeed man yeah actually got one available right now at discounted price and these work real well on the track way more airflow, less weight and less crap to deal with.
