from what i've seen the german unions at v-dub are not for the sale, and are resisting it

More buyers means better valuation which means a lower likelihood they'll come in and dismantle it.
 
VW needs cash, and everybody knows it. Harley might push up the value a bit, but I still see Ducati going at a slight discount. Not to mention, Ducati is being forced out of their comfort zone chasing Euro4/5 requirements, which on the surface means future revenue will be on untested products.

Personally, let's say Harley buys Ducati, its two completely different customers and the only two things they have in common is they both do apparel very well, so does really good apparel sell motorcycles? Lol
 
I own both so Im happy to think that MAYBE they'll invest some of the sweet Ducati ideas into another Street Glide I can buy lol

I see it as HD buying the competition before the competition becomes to much of a threat. Diavel X sales over here are all HD folk moving away from HD.
