Andrea Dovizioso managed again to tame the Desmo beast that gives headache to all other riders that use it.


A 7th place at the end of the race is not telling all the story behind it but Dovi will explain it in this interview he gave after the Circuit of Americas' race.

For this race today i give my self a 9 out of 10 mark, I don;t know this bike very well yet, so, not a 10.
I know the gap is still big and the 7th place cannot satisfy me but I managed to keep a good pace.
I managed to recover some positions in the first laps and then i kept it constant and not mistaken. I gave my best here, I tried even to battle with Rossi but I didn't managed it in the end.
What is your mark to give away for Ducati?

You cannot judge this bike only by my result, we are four to ride this, so, you gave it a mark. It was happening the same with Stoner, everybody looked only in his direction and thought the bike was perfect.
So, are you like Stoner now?

I'd wish. I have a big respect for him. I do my best to take the maximum out of a bike which is not good by far.
Can you explain?
A.D.
I ride it like you never should ride a bike but is the only way of make it work somehow. It takes lots of phisycal strength to tame it and the thing is that you should never ride a motorcyle like that, unfortunately, there's no other choice.
The limits are always the same?
A.D.
Absolutely, and the more I go further into it, the more i realise it. In this moment we cannot make up anything, we only have to wait or the new parts to arrive. Only in that moment we can think of trying to make a difference. Still, it won;t happen either at Jerez.
Pirro will take a new Desmosedici in the mix.

It's a lab motorcycle, more hybrid than new, with a frame that i tested at Jerez. It's not ready to be used by us. Pirro feels better with it so, I hope the same for us. Still, I'm not yet convinced that is the decisive step that we are waiting for.
By this, now, we are confirmed that there's still lots of work to do at Ducati and this year is a development year for the Desmosedici beast that refuses to bow.

I think something else to keep in mind - the pramac Ducati (Iannone) rider has been putting in some impressive results. I'd argue that his results are more impressive than Dovi and perhaps Hayden. . .

Not on the actual factory bike but on the Pramac Ducati team so his resources are more limited than the Ducati team. First time in MotoGP after being in Moto2 and he's pulled off a 9th and 10th. Only a couple placed behind the actual team riders.

For whatever reason, he seems to have bad times qualifying but comes up much bigger in the actual races.. apparently this was the same at Moto2 as well. .. but basically it was marquez, bradl and Iannone in Moto2 the last few years.

+1 - let's put Hayden on the CRTs and get Iannone on a factory ride. How many years has he put in only to get the same results as Iannone?

I shouldn't blame Hayden and I know the guy is talented, I just get frustrated with the whole Ducati situation.

he is a talent, indeed. but i guess it is hard to find new motivation after many years. i wonder what he would bring on a honda?

I was thinking that too since that was the last time he was much of a threat to the podium. Did you hear the announcers saying that Honda kind of called Pedrosa out and basically said to produce some results "or else"? There are tons of guys on the grid that are producing far less than Pedrosa and, although he isn't my favorite, he tends to produce pretty consistent results in my opinion. I'd like to see him on the desmo and Nicky on the Honda.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't read much into it at this point. There's really no place else for him to be. He only has to be faster than an injured Spies and the CRT machines. In reality that's 9th and 10th.

Yeah I guess I did, but in Hayden's defense he's always been rider #2 having to ride a bike spec'd out for Stoner, Rossi and now Dovi. I wonder how much of his input was ever actually used? They certainly didn't listen to Stoner or Rossi so I can only image it wasn't much if any at all.

keep marquez where he is please. i want to watch him ride with the skill that he has. can he master the duc maybe who knows but wouldnt you rather see him do his magic every single race.

i dont know about the motogp stream but on speed it was scott russell announcing. (with the exception of them mentioning rossi every few min like he is relevant they said a few other things
1 that stoner was probably the best rider out there
2 that marquez may be better than stoner was right now
3 that if stoner didnt retire it would have been marquez and stoner with pedroza being out at repsol.
4 not a surprise danni is the no 2 rider at repsol

hayden couldnt get a honda or yamaha factory ride. he isnt good enough. yes he won way back when but thats history.

Mark! I was wondering when you would show up. Are you off your Jorge Lorenzo nuthuggery after your boy was put into his proper place by MM and Pedrosa?

it definitely wasn't because of Rossi....nor Hayden or Dovi today. as Capt says, the Desmo (and Pani?) situation really is frustrating.

He won on the Honda when Dani was the Repsol golden boy.

capt you know better. i said MM was the real deal. ive been following him since the eye injury. i only like JLO because he is better and beats rossi. actully i like anyone that beats rossi.

stop with the stories that i like JLO people will start believing you. Sort of if you say a lie often enough it becomes true. example anything obama says
