Well, what can I say, it had to happen. Dropped it today for the first in 14 years of my riding, feel like a complete tosser.

Fell on the right side when I took off the rear paddock stand, I do not know how it happened and before I realised the damn thing went and it was too late to stop and it hit the ground hard :(

Luckily nothing broke, just the obvious scratches here and there, ruined by day big style.

Sorry, I had to post this to get it out of me lol.

Not even riding I think makes it worse, sorry to hear, been there done that, life goes on. After the earthquake knocked my Ducati (prior to the Panigale) over I was gutted and nearly cried, however now not so hung up on materialistic things, more that I am ok. So glad to hear you only have some psychological scars to heal.

Dropped my 848 because I didn't put the kickstand down all the way. Was 20 yards away as I watched it roll forward and hit the ground. Sucked, but I got over it. There's worse things in life than battle scars on your bike.

What bothers me is that these bikes are really fragile, ok fine, it went down and to hell with it but I keep wondering if the bike will be the same structurally? Has the fall done something to bike which I am unable to know at this moment in time?

After that hard drop, any cracks could have developed that I do not know of and could get worse over time, this is what bothers me, not the scratches on the fairing.

But at the same time many people drop their bikes and they just carry on with it and it seem to function fine.

Don't worry.. happens to the best of us..

I remember doing this to my R1 - except the fuel tank ended up with a massive dent in it! Was pretty pissed...

Everything can be fixed :) head up dude!

Did that with another bike taking off stand. Worst part is feeling like the biggest ....... for something so easily avoided. Just fix her up & move on...

Parked my CBR929RRR on my driveway (back in 2000) without the kickstand being all the way down. It rolled forward and fell over on my company car:eek: Talk about feeling like a complete .......:(

Years ago I had a V-Star as my commuter bike. Got home after a long day at work and forgot to put the stand down. Damn thing pinned me against the wall till the wife came to investigate.

Lowsided mine on the left side AND dropped her on the right side while putting on the paddock stand.

Thanks a lot for sharing your stories guys, goes to show that it can happen to the best of us. A lesson learned and I am officially now part of the 'bike drop' club!

Took it to the dealers today for an assessment and to check for any damage that may have done something bad to the bike like a bent part, steering angle, etc which is not visible to the eye and fortunatly every thing was fine other than a broken right foot peg.

I need to change quite a few bits though since I cannot buff out the scratches and looks like it will be costly, joys of owning a Pani after all..

I can still hear that mighty bang the moment it hit the ground and it felt as if my heart stopped beating LOL.

@fireman1251

You must be brave man! If I was in your place I would have literally cried the second time you dropped it, what was your damage like?

While attending CSS at Laguna Seca, I was going through the paddock eating a banana and not paying attention. Walked right into one of the school's S1000s and knocked it over. Only a dozen or so people saw it happen. :)

Very sorry to hear you dropped it, but consider that you've "rubbed the new off" and will likely ride it 3-4s/lap harder than before. First drop hurts like hell, second means absolutely nothing, especially when you walk away without a scratch. The biggest smile I've ever been photographed with was just after a 140mph lowside. My bike was annihilated, but Josh Hayes posed with me (uninjured) and the carnage.

The lowside was a broken shifter, ground-up peg, bar end and side stand. There was a little scratch on the fairing that came right out with a little buffing.

The right side drop resulted in a pretty good scratch on the windscreen.

Mind you, there are only two types of riders; those who have dropped their bikes and those who will.

Cheers

may this comfort you

the 22 one is mine...

went into the gravelpit and it looked like sandblasted all over the right side ... including GP master pump ... grrrr..

But to stop lamenting, then there is always WILKSON! :)
