In 2013, no later than 2014, Ducati will release either a 799 model or an 849 model. The Ducati 799 or Ducati 849 will replace the 848 and use the smaller version of the new 1199 motor.

This new Ducati Superquadro motor will power Ducati's next generation of motorcycles for the next 10 years.

There is no doubt that there will be a baby version soon.
Looks like the models that are being phased out finish up with an SP or Corse version!!!!
If this is correct the next 2 to be discontinued are the Hyper and of course the 848

My guess is there will be a lower capacity model, as is suggested by the rumours that are being spread, that will be able to be raced in a world series alongside the superbikes.
My guess is the 899 will be announced late this year.

Interesting theory, but why race a smaller capacity bike in WSBK when the 1199 will be legal to race. If what Ducati and most recently Troy Bayliss have been saying lately about the 1199 is true then the bike should clean up in superstock this year, hopefully they will have enough time to develop that machine so its ready for WSBK in 2013. But as far as an smaller bike goes, I wouldn't mind seeing a 799 in 2013 as a replacement for the 848.
