Ducati alarm system

I always have it on a battery tender.

Ducati has an alarm in their catalog but they don't know how and where to install it on the bike. They didn't think about that yet.

My 1199R is almost here

My R is coming the first week of April, I want a GPS alarm system installed when they do the exhaust and computer flash, it seems the Scorpio is what the dealers recommend, has any one installed one on a 1199R yet? If so any issues?
Thnak you

I have the DP alarm on the 1199 and Scorpio rLink on the 1098.

I would HIGHLY recommend the Scorpio rLink over the DP Alarm. The Scorpio has GPS tacking (with SMS alerts ) and a full-on impressive proximity sensor (also with alerts), immobilizer. The rLink does require a data plan, however it is well worth it.

There is a specific kit for the 1199 Panigale (which will work on your R) from Scorpio rLink.

Nothing is fool proof, however in my personal ownership experience the Scorpio rLink is the best and makes stealing the bike that little bit harder.

Most times they throw it in truck and drive off, alarm wailing away - Or start to wheel it away, alarm goes off, they drop it. Just be careful where you park is the best alarm.

A chain is the only way to stop them. I put in eyelet in the concrete of my first apartment complex parking lot and chained to that.

I agree alarms are stupid, since most bikes either get thrown in pick up truck or wheeled away, let the fuckers take it, so insurance gets new one. I purchased a bike with alarm, biggest PITA!!

Couple of things to consider ..

If your bike is heavily modified :

- As far as I am aware, You can not recover the costs of install time (and I do have excellent insurance) from any insurance policy that I am aware of *NOR* the hassle of sourcing new parts.

- If the bike is stolen than with a GPS fitted then there is the possibility of using TRACKING, granted there are ways around this however it gives the possibility of being able to track the bike.

- Getting SMS texts to you phone about your alarm going off does kind of help a lot.

Like I said making it harder to steal (and get away with it) helps.

Naturally, you would supplement this with chains, etc.

REMEMBER - Being able to TRACK and RECOVER a stolen bike is pretty important.

I'm picking my 1199s up at south seas cycles in Hawaii and was looking at getting a Scorpio rLink for it, I've not seen anyone talk about rLink (GPS) on a Panigale yet, but with the 6 ECU's and all I was curious if anyone would recommend for/against it for any reason.
