ill start of with a good topic to discuss, that i notice havent been brought up.
im curious to see what people think of it as you may know out of the factory or from what i hear the suspension set up is not great & needs alot of tweaking.

DES - DUCATI ELETRONIC SYSTEM
what do people think of the system that have it?
have you used the standard Ohlins suspension to compare and what you think?
have ducati made the right decision?
Would you consider the tradition ohlin suspension
etc etc etc.....

I have just had my bike set up by Ohlins techs at my local dealer P&H Motorcycles in Crawley (UK)

The settings were set up for Sports Mode on the bike which I have set up 195hi

It took about an hour and it cost about £99

The good thing about this is that once you have a 'base setting' you can tweak it depending on where I'm riding up to a point anyway...so I'm a fan!

BlueBear - I think you're asking the wrong question. My understanding is that the Ohlins suspension is no different, however you have the option of adjusting the compression and rebound at the push of a button via the DES rather than using a screwdriver. I think the real question is are people finding the ease of adjusting the suspension a real world benefit and are they using it?

I have a base so can't really comment on the DES, however I don't think it'll be around that long with the introduction of semi active suspension and 'Skyhook' which I believe is about to be rolled out on the Multistrada.

ah cheers i thought they maybe a difference to the normal tradition suspension.
guess not

i do however wonder when will ducati answer back to the BMW hp4 or may not answer back at all.

That's my understanding anyway - I might be wrong though!

My guess is we'll see a Panigale with semi active suspension in 2014, I reckon that will be worth the money!

look im just very interested where ducati is goin and comparing what i want
ill hate to choose sumthing only to find out that next year sumthing is betta that i should of just waited. i dont have cash flow as much as some so im doin the research. panigale looks awesome and always be sumthing i want.

the only thing im concern about is suspension with alot of new things goin on.

has the DES increase the cost of maintenance or things goin wrong with the bike? or can in break down easyer in comparison to tradition suspension.

skyhook sounds brillient but from my guess and alot of post forum, people are concern with the long term cost of it. do people think it would be very expensive to maintain?
any post or peoples view would be helpful
this is the only way i can find out about this stuff

No matter what or when you buy something,it's going to be better the next year or two.

i understnad things will always be betta but seeing skyhook / hp4 BMW.
if that is the new technology that starts the whole new revolution in motorcycle then i want to be a part of it.
more hp lower weight is great and all but the technology behind make ride smoother no matter what condition is a great thing. also means safer rides thats as long as it doesnt stuff up. not saying that your wrong maybe i dont want to be also a test dummy and get the start of a faulty product ether lol

I think my electronic suspension on my S is fantastic, and use it constantly while riding. I have different maps pre set. I can't see how the maintenance can be any higher, it is is just electronic adjustment you can change while

The skyhook is Ducati answer to the HP 4 system and I would say you will see that on the 1199 probably on an SP first but all in say 2014.

Troy Corser has said they have been using this semi active suspension in WSBK for years and he even tried a GPS system similar to MOTOGP so it will come eventually.
