I just thought I'd give my experience of the TuneBoy tune and cruise control.

I got mine on a special that they run sometimes (is on special again now) and found them to be a great company to deal with, they are very small business with only two people working there, sometimes emails take awhile. My kit arrived and was packaged really well and comes with a nice storage bag too.

I bought the Tune and cruise kit and bought the then brand new Quickshifter as well, the hardware plugs into the data port under the seat and following the instructions I had a new tune running on the bike in about 20min, changing tunes now is a 5 min job with it set up on the laptop, you don't leave anything connected to the bike when finished.

The Quickshifter was a bit of a stress as it was one of the first ones sold and the hardware had to have an update to make it work which took a bit of time to get sorted but got there in the end.

The quickshifter is a strain gauge type and works for up and down shifts and works perfectly, fitting the strain gauge was a 10 min job and very simple, just plug it into the front o2 sensor plug next to the battery.

This has completely changed the low rpm poor fueling that these suffer from as they are very lean for the factory, the Termi slipon ECU was better than the stock ECU but now it is brilliant.

The other bonus it the cruise control, hold down the starter button for 4 sec and the motor does a blip to show its on, then when riding press the starter button and the bike will hold that speed, till the clutch is pulled or brakes are applied, you can buy nudge buttons also for increase and resume but i'm happy with just the starter, it holds the speed well up hills or down and has saved me a few speeding fines already im sure on the freeway.

When you buy they send you a disc with many different tunes to select from or you can get it dyno tuned to suit your bike, looking on the Tuneboy site the tunes are not updated and doesn't show the Diavel as he has had other tune companys steal his work so he now sends them to you.

Im in no way affiliated with them, but am just a happy customer ;)

How is it dyno tuned johnno?
I mean how do they change the map and ignition curve while the bike is on a dyno?
Can the ignition advance be adjusted?
I know a guy who owns a speed shop and he only dyno tunes with Power Commander because that is what he is familiar with. Maybe I could inform him on something?

he probably knows about tune boy, and rexxer, etc. but with a power commander you don't have to manipulate the original ecu with software, you run a piggyback system that compensates for the original map with additions or subtractions to the fuel and in some cases ignition advance.

familiarity is a good thing, it makes his tune effort more effective and does it more efficiently, saving the bike as dyno's aren't kind to them, he probably makes good labour doing the install too, the tune boy doesn't have anything attached to the bike at all, it's in the software installed in the original ecu

It's playing with the ignition curve where you'll maximize the tunes hp increase.
I don't know how it is done or can be done with a tuneboy.
I probably will get a better air filter and PC V or tuneboy when I'm ready to send it to a shop with a dyno. The guy at STM Racing has a great reputation locally but he only works with Power Commander.
i don't just want a better map. If and when I do it I want the most or near most I can get out of it.
Thanks for the input. Now I have to find out which shops can do what.
