Hey folks, new Diavel V4 owner and new to the forum. Just wondering if there are any other good forums you like for focused discussion on the Diavel V

I have had just about every Japanese sportbike since the mid-80s, and by the time I could justify the cost of a Ducati, I was past my desire for a hard-core race replica. Rode the streetfighter v4 and found it to be too extreme for street riding, mostly just because it was small, inadequate pillion, and peak power is up past 12K and I have no desire to ride like that on the street anymore.

That being said, the Diavel feels to me like a slightly stretched and lowered Streetfighter, with more comfortable rider and passenger comfort. To address some comments I’ve read on the GT engine being too sedate, I’d like to see the GT and Desmo Dyno curves side by side, because my seat of the pants between the two feels like the Diavel has at least as much power under 11K, and feels like the 90+ fr/lbs comes on lower, giving the impression that it is at least as fast at “street” speeds. Similar sounds, more comfortable ergos, more low-end torque and muscular look (Italian VMax). Handling is a mixed bag. I have loads of 10-15 mph switchbacks close to the house, and the 240 rear requires a firm push and steady throttle get through smoothly, especially with the wife aboard. I wouldn’t even take my wife aboard a Panigale or Streetfighter btw. Once over 30-40, feels plenty sporty and the brakes are crazy strong. No surprise to you guys. Oh, and regarding wind protection, no worries there. I have a tiny fly screen, I think just for looks, but more upright position and a little wind pressure is great for me. No weight on the wrists at speed, and slightly forward for good feel in the turns. I DO wear earplugs since my helmet is fully exposed.

Somewhere I read that the Panigale and Streetfighter is limited in the 1st four gears. Not sure if that’s true, but if it is, then both would have ~150HP at the rear tire until 5th gear, which could be why I’m not noticing a huge difference.

Sorry for the long review, but at least I’m a real rider and not a motorcycle magazine guy

there's a diavel v4 facebook page (no ads) it's pretty responsive. Just mine 2 months ago low mileage used. I can attest to what your say. Went for spirited back country ride for a few hours. Handled everything wonderfully except very tight turns. Just came from 2023 s1000rr, thought I could used to it on a the daily but not the case. Diavel is a keeper

New Diavel here coming from decades of Japanese bikes, too- Love it so far 👍

.....very interesting comments about handling tights and the GT engine. I reduced weight (not mine) to some 220 kg (full Akrapovic exhaust, forged wheels and lithium battery). The subjective consequences are: 1) smoother and better pick up from low down ca. 2000 RPM, explosive increase of RPM's > 5000 RPM's (ah and the noise) 2) > 50km/h noticeably more agile. About the switchbacks: I noticed that a bit of soft braking at curve entry when already steering into the switchback makes the bike turn even tighter by itself. As one may gather I am very happy with the Diavel V4 (ergonomics, engine torque and responsiveness..) with exception of the rough suspension in comparison to the Öhlins suspenders I had on my Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory and my Diavel 1260S. Interestingly the Diavel V4 also appears to me better front/aft balanced than the Diavel 1260S.

Hmm. Not a cruiser crowd here. How are you liking the diavel? Thoughts on exposure to wind?
... negligible with the slightly higher Ducati Diavel V4 windscreen. I love the bike, given that at 78 I am not exactly a racer.

Just cracked 4000mi on mine. Wish it had about 10 more hp. The front comes up pretty easily in first but there’s a lot of room for acceleration in 2nd gear+

...why don't you give your Diavel V4 an Akra (22 pounds less weight and 6% more torque and 7% more power) which gives you more than you are asking for? Add forged wheels reducing weight bei another 6 pounds.

$10k for 10 hp lol. So this thing should have 300hp stock 😂
