Looks like the V2 will be campaigned next year in WSSP. This is great news for the development of the V2! I guess we should see the new rules for WSSP soon. My prediction is

600cc will remain for inline-4s
Up to 800 cc for triples
Up to 1000 cc for twins

Will Ducati make an R version of the 955cc engine? That would be tantalizing!
  • Mag covers
  • Larger/lighter valves
  • Lightened crank
  • Titanium con-rods
I’d assume this will also be the announcement on Nov 25 announcement: V2R (for WSSP homologation)

Yeah there will be no more development the bike was a bunch of leftovers from the 99 with Siemens electronics. Here we go again with Snak pushing the keys on the keyboard sending out inaccurate info.

Here we go again with Mick stalking me. And here we go again with Mick not being able to read. And here we go again Mick derailing a thread.

Nope it will just be a standard V2, with limits. Prolly 80% power. No V2R
Nov 25th will be Euro 5 V4R

Is this your thinking or did someone w Ducati tell you this?

If the latter, Euro 5 and what else?

There is nothing left for them to do on the V2 its all leftover parts from the 99 with V4 bodywork and Siemens electronics. There will never be a V2R that last of that platform was the 15/16R. All that will be leftover for them to do is keep adding more junk to the V4 before the next gen bike comes out.

I got a feeling like that exhibit will be split between a Euro 5 V4R (likely few other changes) and the MotoE prototype.

I’m leaning this direction as well. This whole V2 has baffled me since the beginning. You have a proven platform with the 899, 959, 1199,1299. Plenty of factory parts, plenary of aftermarket parts, plenty of tuning options and data. You send out the 1299FE and say “see ya” and it’s all V4 from there.

Now your back with another V2 with a lot of parts leftover from the 99s (it’s pretty much the same bike except for body work and electronics) WTF is that. Should have just kept the damn 1299 and adjusted the displacement as needed. The new V2 to me is an entry level sport bike that they already had. Not sure what the corp strategy was here.

and zero WSBK championships.
Yea we’ll there is that as well. As a brand,Yamaha has The motoamerica title, BSB title, Motogp title and is real close to grabbing the Wsbk title. Not bad for 2021. Looks like Ducati will win the ASBK so there’s that. Personally I think Fielding a WSSP effort with the V2 is going to yield lackluster results but I guess we’ll see.

pretty sure wsbk is getting a small fraction of what goes to motogp and it shows... honda racing could wind up having a really stellar year w both motorcycles and cars... marquez and the bike are gelling again

Agree on the power cut for the V2 in WSSP, gonna chop a bunch of revs off the top, hopefully the low end torque can ruffle some inline fours' feathers on corner exit, it'll be good to see various configurations on track but fear the performance balancing is going to choke a lot of potential.

Looks like Barni has been one this WSSP project since Feb 21. Granted this bike is running National Trophy Big Sport spec and not full WSSP. But looks like they're running (probably due to National Trophy rules which I couldn't find):

  • Standard forks with what I'd assume would be Ohlins FKR cartridges
  • Ohlins RPS40 shock with progressive link?
  • Standard calipers with probably SBS DS pads
  • Standard swingarm
  • Sometimes you see the standard wheels, other times looks like OZ GASS-Rs
  • Custom SC Project long route exhaust (probably to eliminate that 5k dip in the torque curve)
  • Febur rad
  • Spider controls
  • Mag clutch cover with most likely STM wet clutch (I don't see the STM dry clutch conversion plate)
  • I wouldn't be surprised if they put an aluminum 1199/1299 tank (there's a photo of a bare aluminum tank) on but doesn't look like they've done any extensions or alterations
  • I think they're running standard top triple?

Exhaust sounds magnificent!!!

.... Shrimp Sak you spend so much time behind the keyboard you should be a moto editor for Barni or the other race teams.

If Ducati made a full on R version of a 999CC engine I think i would be game to drown myself further in debt :)
