6kg lighter than the current R.

172 kg wet confirmed.

Hmm, this isn't adding up. Shouldn't a reduction of 6kg place it around 182kg? The outgoing R had a wet weight of 414 lbs, subtract 6 kg (13lbs), and that would place it right around 401 lbs (~182 kg). Yet 172 kg was displayed, and I did hear some kind of comment suggesting this was the world's lightest superbike.

Again, look closer at the presentation. "Wet" weight was with no fuel. Add Ducati's typical 90 percent fuel load and all your numbers are spot on.

The 1299's specs look great. Hopefully some of this technology will be backwards compatible as I would very much like to have cornering ABS and up/down quick shifts. Well done, Ducati.

I have to agree, it would be nice if they could make a package to be able to upgrade the 1199 electronics to include some of the new stuff, but I am not too optimistic about it happening though :(

Well, honestly on a first look there are things I dislike on the new bike compared tot my 1199S. I like the old tail more, nose/lights of my S as well. Exhaust looks more full. Updates Electronics however are very nice, Ohlins ES, QS up/down on the button, wheelie control, etc. Specs look like a supercomputer controls the bike! Also torque of 144NM is insane. Let's just say I am perfectly happy keeping my 1199S for a couple of years :)

Performance wise I'm loving what I'm hearing. Looks wise I still like the 1199 though. However, everything seems to grow on you over time.

Tough decision on what I will buy come spring. I'll never use bike to its capability and the 1199 models prices should be pretty sweet. Still, there's something to be said for having the latest and greatest as it were.
Oh well, I have a whole winter to figure it out...Aaarrgghhhh!!! (R1 looks horrible at least)

mirrors are like on the 1098 yet still shaped like the 1199 nice touch won't have to remove the mirrors to change windscreen

Scrambler is lame....

Don't agree at all.
The Scrambler with the advent of the new 4V Monsters (and the retirement of the old 2V ones), is the last classic Ducati left.
Clearly that is not a bike with large amount of power, but that's not its purpose.
I am currently debating if to replace my 2012 Monster 1100 EVO with a Scrambler or a new 1200S.
If I were still in Italy, that would have been the former.

Dammit!

Was going to pick up an 2013 1199 R for cheap but the new 2015 1299 S with the engine and electronics upgrade can't be overlooked. Also seems like it comes with very similar if not the same wheels as the R.

Now I don't know what to do.
