Hi I am a new Ducati owner who bought my first Ducati Panigale 1299s, I have completed 4000km and the oil light came on! I stopped the bike and pushed it 500 meters home, contacted the dealer who picked the bike up, turns out the water pump drive gear seized and spat its needle roller bearings out! The dealership said the bike oil pressure was 80psi at idle! There was debris in the oil filter and the oil bypass was activated. Ducati have said it is being repaired however I am concerned that debris has been circulated round the engine due to the by pass in the oil pump being opened. Has anyone had this happen and what was the outcome? Thanks and regards Simon

Simon,

Almost 2500 miles. Did you purchase this 1299 new or used? If it were me I would force the issue of having them replace the entire engine via warranty. Might want to push the issue a bit. That's a lot of money spent to be worried about something happening in the future. Best of luck to you and I'm looking at purchasing a 1299 (non-S) in the near future.

hi, good luck and go force them to replace the complete engine...

no warranty that the water has damaged more parts.
