I picked this up yesterday, as I like the idea of connecting the charger via the under seat diagnostic port:

End of the day, a chargers a charger and this is nice :p

I was just going through my manual and came across that too. Added that to my list, but the comfort seat is coming first.

Is bloody cheap tho is it! Paying for that Ducati logo again! But what the hell I've gotta get one now!

My dealer supplied a smart chrger as part of purchase
only found out when i picked the bike up
pretty good i thought
and already wired into bike
big thanks to them :D

but if ihad to buy one that is pretty nice that one you have X

I will buy one.
Interesting thing, if you check on the cable at the lower left of the picture, it looks like you could use the cable to connect one end to the diagnostic port and the other end to, say, an iPhone, for GPS and radar detectors ? There's something to do, there...

I have the "red one" with the diagnostics for my 848 and was asking if I could use that for the Pani.

I was told I could if I had a second set of connection leads.......but of course it only came with one set so unless I remove them from the 848 I'm going to be getting this one aswell it's half the price of the red one, and I've never used any of the diagnostic features of the red one anyway.

Buy a batttery tender, attach the leads to the battery and route it to an out of the way place. Battery tender also sells the pigtails separately so you don't have to buy one for each bike.

Spend the extra $$$ saved on bling.

I watched my dealer's mech install the tender leads yesterday - pretty straight forward since the battery is easily accessible on the left side when the plastic is off. I'll do that ONCE THE EFFING BIKE GETS HERE.

I've been using the Battery Tender for years on my other bikes and am totally pleased. AND, if you're interested in changing out to one of the Lithium or Lithium Iron Oxide (LiFe) batteries, the Battery Tenders will work since they don't have a de-sulfating cycle.

I just ordered another one from Amazon - saved 12 dollars off the list price and got free shipping.

My dealer was kind enough to install the pig tail for Battery Tender before I picked it up. No charge and was a nice touch. Thanks Tony @ Commonwealth Motorcycles in Louisville, KY.

Thats exactly what I did. I purchased a DELTRAN BATTERY TENDER and connected the pigtail plug ends to my battery terminals. Then the plug is mounted onto the hydraulic clutch braided hose on the left hand side of the bike, held by small black zipties...very accessible area when wanting to charge your battery.

When I dont use my Panigale for quite sometime, I simply plug and charge it. Very good product as I have used this for my previous bikes and the battery life has increased dramatically.

iiiofv, +1 .. "ONCE THE EFFING BIKE GET HERE", I am right there with you and two steps behind you on the list.

My dealer (Europeon Motorcycles) also included/installed the pigtail for charger. I thought it was a nice touch and was much appreciated. Also, one less thing I needed to do. Sometimes it's the little things that stand out.

Well the wait is definitely worth it. Got my S w/ABS last Tuesday here in DC and I'm right at 1000 miles already. We put the full system Termi's on it at the 621mi/1000km service and WOW... The comfort seat is definitely a must, a huge difference from the stock seat. Ducati battery tender on the way along the rest of the carbon fiber bits.

Also, leave the suspension setup on flat at first unless you plan on riding 2 up. I'm 5'9" 160lbs and it's perfect... of course you will have to pull your spine out of your a**hole after riding because of the harshness. The benefits outweigh the harsh ride IMO though.

Also, leave DTC on unless you plan on looping the bike... it has a safety feature that will keep you from ending up on your bum and making my insurance go up. :)

Is this something you can leave plugged into the bike all winter long during storage?

I guess so, since it has charge and maintain mode.

Personally, I'd just stick it on for a few days every couple of weeks though.

I have this too. Do your LEDs still work?

The only one that is on is the red power light. The charge and maintenance LEDs don't come on anymore. I haven't taken the fairing off to check the connection to the battery terminal yet, but I've taken a meter to the terminals of the unit itself and get about 14v, so it's working.

Your unit sounds a bit shagged bro.

I always get the charge led for a few hours, followed by maintenance for the remainder.

That's happening to mine as well. Red light only...like forever. However, I did see the other lights come on for a little bit every once in awhile.

My bike is hooked up full time from December until April and I have the LEDs positioned so I can see them every time I pull my car in and out the garage. LEDs are red 95% of the time but every now and again, I saw the other lights....so I'm concluding that is the way it is intended to work.

hey xbox, justa FYI. be real clean and careful with attaching the leads and make sure you have them nice and secured. I put a set on mine for some waay overcomplicated charger and my 1st ride got a reoccurring CAN error. took em off and haven't had the error since. just an fyi bud.
