hey xbox, justa FYI. be real clean and careful with attaching the leads and make sure you have them nice and secured. I put a set on mine for some waay overcomplicated charger and my 1st ride got a reoccurring CAN error. took em off and haven't had the error since. just an fyi bud.

Thanks for the heads up - the electricals must be quite sensitive.

Fortunately, this Ducati unit plugs straight into the diagnostic socket under the passenger seat, so not too much messing about :)

I guess I'm not sure exactly where this is located. Can you take a pic please? I have mine plugged into the pigtail sticking out of the left side fairing, is that ok?

That's where mine is plugged into. The dealer installed it before I took delivery. I'm going to trace this connection back to the battery to see if something came loose.

Before I start taking off fairings, can someone confirm that you need to in order to get to the fuse boxes. Page 251 of the manual states the fuse boxes are under the seat inside the underseat compartment. Then it says to get to the boxes you need to take the left fairing off which is no where near the underseat compartment. What am I missing?

I forgot to mention, i believe my bike came with the battery connector extension already installed (and connected directly to the battery). Didn't have to remove the fairing, etc. During the riding season, I plug in my radar detector. During the winter storage season, I plug in the battery maintainer. Pull out the pigtail, plug it in, then tuck it away.

I could be wrong IIRC you don't need to remove the fairing to get at the battery.

Yes, mine did too, the dealer installed it. I'm pretty sure I blew a fuse as it was working until last week. I need to get at the fuse box, but the manual is a little confusing.

The charger lead from the battery should have an in line fuse. But, before you start tearing the bike apart use a volt meter and test for voltage at the connector.

Sure - how about this. As you can see, it plugs straight in, with no pigtail and has an inline fuse. The black lead is what was bundled up in my original product picture, the yellow connector is the bikes diag/coms port.

Thanks Efna, I tried that yesterday and no voltage. I didn't know the charger connector had an inline fuse! Looks like I have to take the fairing off anyway to get at it.

I just hooked a 'tamiya' plug to my battery terminals so I can use my 'intelligent battery charger' as I have done on all my bikes for years. Took five mins to fit and didnt have to remove panels either!

That was it, blown fuse in the connector! Didn't have to take the fairing off either it was right behind the black battery cover. Thanks again.

Glad to hear it was a simple fix. If the fuse goes again then something is wrong with the battery charger.

Can I just buy the lead from diagnostic port to regular charger plug? I already have a battery charger and just want the lead so I can charge it through the diagnostic port on the tail.

I looked for one and could not find it. I'm not sure if you mean that you have the Ducati tender or just some other charger, but make sure your charger has the recommended amperage, etc...
