Nah, all of this stuff happens behind the scenes and we won't know what's going on until it already happened. I'm just ignoring it, since it really doesn't impact anything Ducati is doing in the market or how they operate.

Harley did race in AMA with their VR1000 many years ago. Maybe Harley wants to race in WSBK and MotoGP.

Ok, I'll be the voice of reason here. If Harley DID want to buy Ducati, it would have absolutely NOTHING to do with racing, wanting to access Ducati's performance platform/engineering to infuse into the Harley line, etc. It would be purely financial and market related, leveraging potential synergies to strengthen both companies. I think it would be a PR challenge for Ducati because of..... well, all of YOU.... 
... but if it happened, in the end it could be a great thing for Ducati, much like Audi taking it over was a great thing for Ducati compared to the financially shaky past. Harley has THE PREMIER financing network for motorcycles, hands-down, and we would LOVE to have access to that as dealers since it would help us get more people on a Ducati. Harley also has a very strong dealer support model, and is very good at managing their dealer network. How many unsuccessful Harley dealers do you know? Not many. The dalliances into MV and Buell were more of a "pet project" than a strong business-model decision, this would be at a whole different level of over $1B investment. That's not something Harley would take lightly as a publicly-traded company beholden to its shareholders.

The Royal Enfield vote was a lot more fun. I was hoping for a 1299 rifle rack option out of it.
