I am thinking about a new race suit and I want a tailored solution this time as stock sizes do not work for me and I am tired of shipping my stuff to make alternations after the purchase, which still never really ideal.

Does anyone have experience with going through Ducati SuMisura process? What was the final fit after all measurements were taken and suit was tailor made? Were you happy with the quality?

I am going to do D-Air K1 most likely.

It's the same as normal Dainese Custom Works process, i fact you have to be measured at a Custom Works fitting center. The benefit is you can get the Ducati designs and Ducati logos on the suit. The downside is you can't get any model Dainese suit you want, you're limited to the slightly older model Mugello R suit that is available through SuMisura. For a normal Dainese Custom Works suit, you can pick any suit you want, but you can't get Ducati logos put on it since those are proprietary through SuMisura. Any of the Ducati dealers who are also Custom Works fitting centers can get you set up, not sure who all is in on that but for sure we are at Ducati Omaha, Ducati Austin, Ducati Detroit and MotoCorsa. There might be others as well. Or you can go to a D-Store and get measured and then take the measurements to your Ducati dealer to get the suit ordered through SuMisura. Or in the past they've offered measuring at Ducati Island at the MotoGP and WSBK races.
 
Thank you for the info. D store makes sense. I don't have any in Texas, but I can make a trip to Ducati Austin perhaps. Local Ducati offered to have me measured, but I am pretty paranoid about this being done by someone really qualified..

As for the model. I don’t think Dainese offers anything updated and recent in kangaroo? I thought it was the same Mugelo both at Dainese and SuMisura. Am I wrong ? I feel like they may be coming out soon with something new for the top shelf suit, as I remember weighing Mugelo vs Misano 2 years ago. I ended up with Misano. But nowadays I want kangaroo and top class option.
 
DStore fitment during the Sept/Oct/Nov USA Custom Works event - is the only way you’ll get measured by a Dainese Factory representative - otherwise you’ll probably be fitted by a store manager following rules of the spec sheet - not all that bad, as I’m sure they will stand behind the fitment, but not quite the same as having a factory tailor at your disposal - over the last few years I’ve ordered a few (2pc only) - no complaints

Lighter weight is really the best way to go - while I’m not a 1pc owner, Kangaroo solves the weight issue as best as can be expected - I remember comparing them & it was definitely noticeable although I do not know the actual weight differences

1 tidbit of advice would be to use the online design tool for deciding your colors, so you don’t get stuck holding the order up while you make decisions, or make rush decisions at the time you’re being measured

While Custom fitment is truly great, be ready for the potential eye opening moment when you first put it on....typically it will be snug (given you haven’t changed) and you might think they got something wrong, try to focus on the overall fitment...if you do not feel any weird pressure points, or compression then you’re probably all set & just need a tad acclimation period — Good Luck doing it, as it’s a great way to treat yourself !!

Yes the new model from Dainese is the Mugello RR, it has a revised design with more stretch panels and went back to an upper-only style airbag system for better airflow.
 
I don't know if this could help you or is OT,
but last year,I had a similar problem.
Dainese was expansive and not really by the corner.
I opted for Vircos Kangaroo with Tech Air airbag.
Couldn't be happier.
Measuring was made in my shop in Cesena(Garage 51,that happens to be the Michele Pirro #51),that helped with the process.
He is a real OLD STYLE rider,helping everytime he could.
Anyway I opted for it for the following reasons:
1 easy measuring process
2 safety ( it happened that I also tested it in a low side due to oil spillage form a bike in front of me,at the Misano corner)
Not a scratch and I fixed it with 350 euro with the 1st airbag recharged,due to inflation,that I didn't even feel during the crash).
3 timing
4 after market follow-up
5 Tech Air vs D Air because of 2 charges instead of 1,lower recharge cost,not requiring the GPS signal for working.
6 price

The not good part is the limitations for the colors and design.
But not a real issue.

In the USA Alpinestars doesn't offer custom fitting for their Tech-Air suits BUT we do have RS-Taichi custom fitting available in a Tech-Air compatible suit.
 
I decide to give Alpinestars Racing Absolute race suit in kangaroo a try before I went full custom. Ducati tailored suits are insanely expensive as it turned out! Plus I already owned a tech air race vest. What a massive surprise for me was when the suit fit me great! The same size 54 as my previous Dainese D-air Misano, and both problem areas were the exact fit for me, while Dainese was just killing my knees, crotch and put a tone of tension on shoulders and back when in tuck. I also got Marquez’s outer style boots and I feel the whole fit, how everything tucks in and stays on the foot is better vs Rossi’s inner boot I previously been running for about 5 years, although they are more work to out on I would say. I’ll probably keep using Dainese boot for the street and Alpine for the track. We’l see. Bravo Alpinestars !!
 
Great info - I have a custom suit from Mithos. They are licensed by Alpinestars to make custom suits to be used with the tech-air vest. That worked well for me as the standard 54 fit well but felt really tight in the chest & shoulders.
