I found this guy years ago when I first thought about buying an 848, I can't remember why but I stumbled upon his original 1198 dyno run ins. I remember looking around and seeing consistent results with different bikes, that his run in procedure ends up making significantly more power than bikes that were run in on the street. Anyways, I found his Panigale run this morning....

Ducati 1199 Panigale S 2012 Dyno Run in & Hp stats by Maxpower Motorcycles 193HP - YouTube

Another example that dynos are only good for tuning a bike. They are meaningless as a compare to other bikes and even of the same model. This run can mean (pick one or more):

1. Ducati is lying about their HP numbers
2. This bike is "special"
3. This dyno is not calibrated correctly
4. This guy is lying

How about you do some poking around?

"gsxr1000 k8 run in on the dyno in std form i get 182 hp. run in on the street about 169-172 hp"

Whether his dyno is out to lunch or not, that's a 10-13hp difference.

Fudging dyno numbers would do nothing to benefit him or his shop. If it didn't work why the f*** would he take the time to run in a bike, strapped to a dyno for 200km?

So many negative nancies around here it's pissing me off.

I am not calling him a liar, but one of the above must be true for any dyno numbers that are that close to Ducati's posted HP.

IMO, who really cares:confused:
As if one's going to notice the difference anyway on a daily basis?
Who rides that hard on the street or main roads to take advantage of the extra power?
It's impossible.
I don't know anyone. That's alive:eek:
They've all died badly, or ended up with no bike and or unable to ride again.
Seriously?

I could understand it if one was racing competitively, and needed all the power.

Turn your Panigale to 120hp mode, right now. You can't even use THAT much for the street. You don't need all that power. You can't feel the difference anyways.

Rational thought process for irrational premise. /fail

I totally agree you cant use all that power on the street but I can definatly feel the difference between 120 and 195. Put a 100kg rider on vs a 70kg rider and theres a noticable difference too.

A 600 or 750 is plenty for the street. Its the looks, sound, feel that got me with this bike.
