My front exit Termis are making my ears ring. I tried regular orange ear plugs but all the low-end noise carried right through and was even further amplified. Wondering what other people use and have had success with. Thanks.

Obviously should have searched first (.....) but with lots of new improvements maybe this deserves a revisit

Orange earplugs work great and I have the evo akrapovic which is louder than front exit termis. 100 pack home depot $14. Can't beat it.

I have tried almost every solution out there, including multiple sets of custom made earplugs at up to $600 a pair.. Eventually, I found the Moldex purafit fluorescent green industrial plugs work the best for me. Cheap, but completely effective. I buy them in boxes of industrial quantity 200, for around $25-$30 per box of 200. They give 33db of noise reduction ...

I use Hearos. Picked them up at a music store. Best (comfort/noise reduction) I have ever used. They are re-usable, cleanable and easy to install.

I wear an Arai RX7 and I cant ride with out plugs as the wind noise really hurts. I use 3M EAR classics ear plugs, as it what work provides! They seem to work well whilst standing under a jet on max reheat doing leak checks. Granted ear deafs are on as well. But worn under a lid is roughly the same and I have no problems on my 1299.

I also go with the custom moulds and get them at a bike show every year or anytime i'm at a Motorsport event.

I've tried customs and honestly I don't think the noise reduction is much better - I do use customs on my Shure 846 earphones, though

For motorcycling, everyone I know who has tried these loves them

I purchased a box of 200. I have found that they provide enough noise reduction to stop any discomfort from my Akra system. Without them the noise is annoying. They must be fitted correctly though otherwise will work out of your ear and leak sound.

I highly recommend them. $49 for a box of 200 in Australia.

dang it maybe I'm using mine wrong, it was horrible.

I suggest fitting as per the instructions. Roll up the plug to make it thinner. Lift the ear from the top with the other hand. This opens the ear canal. Insert the earplug and hold in place for 30 seconds till it expands in the canal. This then holds it in place. If you are still hearing everything then it is not fitted properly and will not protect you.

It takes a few extra minutes but better than getting Tinnitus. (hearing damage)

The AGV Pista and Corsa are notoriously loud, in fact, the Pista came with ear plugs. I have always made it a habit to wear ear plugs and after trying everal brands, my go to pair are made by Etymotic Research.

They have filters so they do not muffle the sound, but just lower the ambient SPL. For that reason, they are great for concerts, but I have found that it makes them safer for wearing in traffic.

I tried moulds but found them a waste of time. No quieter, more expensive and less comfortable. I also found when swallowing or moving my jaw they would work loose. PITA if you've just got on track or set off on a ride & once loose they offer no protection at all. Interestingly I don't have the same problem with the Ultimate Ear headphones which are from the same mould. I put this down to them having a hollowed centre and being softer.

Personal preference plays a large part, I find these disposeable plugs the most comfortable/quiet.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! Im gonna give the cheap option a shot first and work on my insertion technique, giggity.

I guess I should also mention my ears pop ALL the time and sometimes stay in an "open" state and sounds like air is running through them (not possible i think but its what I hear). I have a leaky head I guess, I can also blow air out my eyes so I wouldnt rule ears out I guess haha.

take an orange plug and roll it between ur index and thumb until it is nicely compressed and then insert in ear -- it will expand inside the canal and become snug enuff to reduce most noise...

they r also anti-microbial (the right brand that is) vs customs which i believe are not -- the rate of bacterial increase in canal that has headphone/plug increases exponentially over short period of time; the antimicrobial plug aides in reducing it some..

Hear Hear (?!). I got a Pista and ignored the earplugs for two weeks. It is a noisy helmet and coupled with the full Termis on my bike I had a couple long rides that ended in ringing ears in the evening. I figured I should give the earplugs a shot especially because the helmet came with a pair. I now use them all the time with no persistent ringing. They aren't the foam ones all you guys are talking about they look more like a little bee hive. I replaced a couple pairs and still like these ones. I have trouble with the foam ones working their way out.
