Earplug Suggestions?

I have to bring it up because I haven't seen it mentioned yet.

When you use foam ear plugs you gotta give yourself a wet willie. It sounds gross but I'm telling ya, it's amazing how much easier it is to get rolled up foamies inserted properly when you have a bit of lube helping you out.

As long as I'm here, I used the green ones this weekend and found them to be notably better at reducing sound than the orange 3Ms.

From Moldex' website:
With clean hands, hold earplug between thumb and forefinger as shown. Roll and progressively compress the entire tapered end of the earplug to a small wrinkle-free cylinder.

INSERT To ensure fitting, reach hand over head and gently pull ear upward and outward as shown. Insert compressed, tapered end of earplug well inside ear canal.
Hold 30-60 seconds until earplug expands. Release, then push in again for 5 seconds to ensure fit.

CORRECT FIT
When properly inserted, the bottom edge of earplug is located at the opening of the ear canal.

INCORRECT FIT
A portion of the earplug not in the ear canal will reduce effectiveness.

For those who don't have success with foam ear plugs, try Mack's Silicon ones. Just make sure you use a big gob of it. I once lost one, so I divided the other one up and shoved 'em in. When I got to my destination I went to grab the plug, but it had worked itself into my eardrum. Spent 20 min. trying to pick it out with a toothpick. Not good.

Agreed! Once it's compressed just touch the tip of the plug with your tongue, it'll slide in much easier. You will need to replace them sooner though, once wet they're ruined.

you do NOT need to wet them -- once wet with saliva the bacteria increases that much more... just roll them tighter...

+1 using spit is just gross, you're not using them right - roll them up thin and they fit fine
