I fitted an EBC air filter in the 1299 after doing 12000km with the OEM stock filter
After taking it out a few times I’m of the opinion it’s down on torque ( I do not have numbers to substantiate that) just a feel, I did not do any mapping or other
Just wondering if a stock 1299 would suffer from an air-filter that allows ( claimed) a higher airflow rate

Yes, you are suffering from increased airflow.

On my 1299S, to get the better experience. I installed an exhaust and used a tuneboy flash with the BMC air filter. The bike went from being mundane to power wheelies.

To get your torque back, refit the a stock air filter.

@Captain Greg
Performance air filters can increase between 1 and 2% of airflow to the engine. That amount is not be significant enough to require a new mapping (even though some tuners that are your for your money may tell you otherwise). If you feel your bike is down on power, the most likely scenario is that you accidentally swapped the connectors for the top injectors during the install. They are labeled V for vertical (rear) and H for horizontal (front). I have seen this happening more than once. Go check and let us know.
