Hi there from the Uk I have been reading about switching off the EBC to give more engine braking I owned a 848 evo before my 1299 and I like the engine braking. Also I have read about it gets rid of some of the throttle issues.?
What is the best mode to ride in Race or sport only just got the bike and I absouletly love the bike.
Regards
Paul;)

Hi Paul,
Welcome to the forum. Best thing to do is to get out there and ride it, and try the different modes until you find a setup that you like. Some people like the Sport suspension settings with the Race power delivery as it softens up the suspension for road use ( assuming you have an S model with the electronic Ohlins ), I tend to ride in Race / Race mode unless its raining when the Wet mode is excellent.
I dont think that turning EBC off will get rid of any throttle issues but am ready to be corrected!

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Ben
Thanks for the reply I have the base model I will have a play with the settings and see how I get on with it all.

Cheers
Paul

Got the default settings and never felt that EBC really kicks in (regular street riding). As far as I understand it would open throttle bodies a bit an inject some fuel to reduce engine's drag?

Anyway, replaced the OEM clutch with another one (STM) with far less slip. How should I compensate it with EBC? Highest/higher value I guess?

I love EBC. If you play around with the setting, the difference is immediately noticeable. EBC off = HUGE engine brake. EBC 3 = bike rolls into corners with ease.

As mentioned - I recommend playing with the setting in various conditions to see what suits your riding best. I found that too much engine brake hindered my braking/ corner entry. I run the setting on 3 for track and street (very limited engine brake) and I'm very happy with it.

Have a play customising the modes. I use Race mode, but I have ABS 2 so that I keep cornering ABS and I have reduced EBS to level 1, as I have also like the engine braking of twins.

When I had a play with EBC you could really notice a difference between the levels, it only takes a minute to change between each one, so have a play in the menus.

The electronics on this bike are something else. I did a track day using ABS 2 and did not know it was there apart from the bike being totally stable. Amazing bit of kit.

Hi
Just an update since my post I ride in sport mode and I have selected high power mode and then I set the EBC to level 1. I then went out over the weekend and it has totally transformed the bike the throttle response is so much better and the engine braking feels more like a V twin. I only seem to get a very slight surging but its 100% better than it was so give it ago and have fun.

I'm still getting used to my bike and haven't yet had it in race mode?
What is high power? I run mine in the sport mode all defaults as set by factory?

There are three "power" modes, wet reduces the amount of power, sport and race have the same power but the throttle response is softer in sport. Some people prefer to set the sport throttle response to high and the wet to medium. YMMV.

just try it out real quick by putting the bike in race mode for a second. tell us if you think you have a totally different bike? :D

I would like to see EBC 4 and maybe it should go to 11 :) . I want fuel poured into the combustion chamber during deceleration with bangs and flames coming out the exhaust. I have this set up on my 2015 R1 and it's great! Brakes are for reducing speed and engines are for increasing speed.

Who cares! All I know is that I get the biggest pops and bangs on throttle run off when it's set to 3 :D

Having said that, read the manual. It gives fairly accurate description of most settings on the bike, or at least an idea of where to start

The EBC caused my 1299 to nearly stall between 4400 and 4600 rpm. The solution was to turn EBC to OFF. I love the level of engine braking now. It's very smooth with EBC OFF. I have an Arrow cat eliminator exhaust and RapidBike Omni. I have been riding with EBC set to 3 and sometimes 2 since I bought the bike. I thought maybe the RapidBike was rubbish, but it was the EBC 3.

I don't know how Ducati is implementing EBC. My FT ECU flash on my 2015 Yamaha R1 implements it perfectly by continuing to flow fuel into the cylinders when the throttle is closed. This results in great continual burbling backfires, and the engine braking is reduced very smoothly.
